News-Gazette's Bob Asmussen on projected starter transferring:

Maybe it will all work out.

Maybe Matt Robinson will take control of the Illinois offense and lead the team back to the postseason.

Or maybe Isaiah Williams will join the Illini this summer and be even better than advertised. The next Kyler Murray.

But right now, there are troubling signs for Lovie Smith's fourth edition.

On Saturday, potential starting quarterback M.J. Rivers II announced his plan to transfer....

Penn State guy and USC guy visiting.

As hideous as that game was, and I remember staring at the screen in nauseous disbelief before thankfully needing to leave to watch my daughter at state cheerleading contest, I wonder if Gopher fans will remember that game fondly as the turning point in our path toward relevance again.

Not only that, but we tricked a division rival into keeping their train-wreck situation intact for another season. Brilliant!

I can't say that was a low point as a gopher fan, but it was close

I'd hate to see this board had we not turned it around at season end

I lost $$ by betting Purdue to cover vs us.....despite watching game in freezing cold and losing $20, I left a happy camper

I think Illinois is well into the "Yeah but who would we get other than this guy?" territory.

Unless a huge donor shows up or something, they have to let the coaching situation play out completely.... just as a matter of fact.

Well, their AD handpicked Lovie his first week on the job. Most men with large egos will bury their heads and hope for the best after they make a bad decision.
