@Mark_Schlabach: #Hokies will announce Frank Beamer is retiring at end of this season around 2:15 p.m. ET. Beamer met with coaches this a.m.

Not really. I'll be shocked if Bud Foster doesn't get the job.

This. Had same thought regarding Bud Foster stepping into the HC role

That's a Tracy Claey's hire. Their ok with it, but some here aren't? Interesting.

So is he retiring at the end of the season or 1:15 today?

Bud Foster is far more accomplished compared to Tracy Claeys. So no not a Tracy Claey's hire.

He's also older than most first time hires.

It seems like many are predicting Rich Rod for this job. He supposedly doesn't want to stay at Arizona and the VT AD is close with Rich when they worked together at West Virginia. He also has experience and ties recruiting in that part of the country.

Wow. I have been following college football for a long, long time, and I don't think I've ever seen so much coaching turnover as has already taken place and/or been announced so early as this. It's going to be a crazy carousel over the next few months what with so much in flux. One thing I'm pretty confident in is that we won't be the only program having to worry about holding onto our recruits, in fact I'd wager we might be better off than many, as apparently (if Mona's info RE: Claeys is correct) the only change to the composition of this staff will be at the top.

Add Hawaii to the list, as Norm Chow was fired this weekend.

Per Bruce Feldman it sounds like VT wants to go in a different direction and Bud Foster will not be a serious candidate. Pretty surprising considering Foster has been a hell of a DC for them.
