My main message before practice was that we won a title last year. It was a championship that we are all proud of - it was difficult to win and we learned a lot about ourselves in the process. With that being said, it's time to take the next step as a team and a basketball program. My expectations for them this season will be MUCH higher.

A few of his impressions

Elliott Eliason - Body looks great, finished everything today.

Mo Walker - Had some big time moves in the paint. Would love to see him still get stronger and quicker.

DeAndre Mathieu- still recovering from Day Day beating him in one-on-one last week. Hopefully he will get over it by November 14th.

Josh Martin- Rodney Williams-esque athlete. Still has to learn how to play. Very excited about his potential.

Andre Hollins - Came back healthy and in great shape. Breakout year coming.

Best part of the blog, really encouraging on Andre's health.

Of course, the all knowing Gopher Warrior said that Andre could end up taking a medical redshirt this year, so I guess I should temper my excitement.

Daquein "Day Day" McNeil- I told him yesterday to come to practice a confident player. He walked in this morning with a gold jersey on. Traditionally, in practice maroon is the first team and gold is the second team. Everyone should walk into the first day of practice with a maroon jersey on! He has a chance to make a big jump from last year

forgive my slowness but Who is Mar?
 








If Buggs is rehabbing from knee surgery and isn't playing, this is the time you'd think he'd be gaining weight (if ever). We've heard these stories about Carlos Morris sending photos of every meal to the trainer, what about Buggs?

I'm almost hoping for what howiewowie has been preaching for months... But I don't think we could get anyone in for this season if Buggs suddenly couldn't play. That kid needs to be working on his game. So much talent so little game.

Just from Looking at Buggs I don't think he needs to gain a lot of weight. It's definitely not as dire of a situation as Morris...
 

I'm gonna set out to gain a little weight this coming weekend.

I believe they'll be playing at the Ty Lawson and Victor Oladipo All-American Camp at Dematha Catholic High School, July 9-11.
 

Enjoyed the blog, it's hard not to get excited by what Pitino wrote. I am a little concerned that Gaston and Bakary won't be on campus until September. It seemed like the word previousloy was they were going to be here later in the Summer, and it does seem like both would greatly benefit from working with the strength coach, playing some pick up with their new teammates, and generally acclimating themselves to D-1 college basketball life.
 



Another well-written blog. Even the subtle aspects of this blog I find myself impressed with. Comparing Martin's athletic ability to Rodney Williams, Pitino didn't even coach Rodney, but he knows comparing Martin to him will give fans someone to relate to and give us a better picture of what Martin is like. Good stuff.
