This just in. It has recently announced that the Gophers will be playing the hated Wisconsin Badgers for the Axe. The axe is one of the most coveted trophy's in all of college football. Both teams come into the game undefeated in the Big Ten with hopes of establishing their legitimacy with a victory.

No one is quite sure when this game snuck it's way onto the schedule but its never to late to jump on a story of such magnitude. I'd really hate for the strib to miss out on such an event and so wanted to post this so they had ample opportunity to write a story. We all know the strib gets their info from the Gopher Hole site, and I'm doing my part to help feed them wht they need so they don't have to needlessly remove their arses from their chairs and find the info themselves.

No need to ask permission to use this, consider it a gift.

Schnoodler.

aaaahhhh, not that big of a deal, didn't you hear a college kid got in a fight???? game shmame, we got better stuff to write about.

In all seriousness, was 'Blarney' the source for Reusse and Foogie's articles???

That's what I was getting at. If it wouldn't have been a subject here, would it still be out in the media?

100 proof. Blame the posters here. It's newsworthy and now being covered. Get over it.

So was the reason that BB kicked 2 safeties off the Badger team this year? Where is the investigative media on that? Should BB explain?? I'm waiting.......wait, WI media actually reports on the game, not tabloid stuff.

See a difference here???

Actually, there is a reason. The University and parties involved have not yet chosen to go into the details, but I can assure you it did NOT involve hitting a police officer and being tasered multiple times. In fact, It didn't involve the police in any manner. There are possibly further legal/administrative procedures involved and that is all I'm going to say on a public message board. Once you cross the criminal line, however, it becomes a matter of public record.

Apparently you missed the Wisconsin media breaking a story about players getting discounted shoes at a discount shoe store the day before the season started in 2000. The Wisconsin media is as critical of the Badgers and itching to break a story about something one of the players has done as the media in the Twin Cities. Surprisingly, our fans bitch about it as well.

And if it hadn't been burried when it happened, it wouldn't be a story now. After today's release of information, it seems obvious Whaley was suspended for the first 3 games. Why lie and say it was "turf toe?" Why not issue a two line release when it happened and let it die?? Had Brewster taken the high road, this would not have been dug up now and used as fuel for the new fire by the media.

Maybe he also had turf toe and it looked better to say it was injury keeping him out at the time??? I got nothing else so I'll agree with you. I guess not wanting players or coaches as routine guests on KFAN makes sense now because then they wouldn't constantly be answering questions about the incident or how much of a distraction it is for the team. Personally I don't need the tabloid crap. It's a huge distraction for the fans, too. I just want to enjoy the game.

Am I missing something? Both the Strib and PP have written multiple articles during the week about the key players and matchups that will be critical for the game on Saturday.

What more do you want? Remember, we are not the typcal Golden Gopher fan. Might it be our media coverage standards are a tad too high?

Whaley played at Syracuse. He shouldn't even be on the team. (Hey, people make mistakes and deserve second chances). Oversleeping and missing a class is making a mistake. Going to a bar underage, punching a bouncer, wrestling with cops, being tased repeatedly is not a mistake.

I don't lose one ounce of sleep when a player gets in trouble....it's how the school/coach responds to it that I do care about. Handling internally is B.S.!!!!!!! If you're going to dedicate a win against Miami of Ohio to the state of Minnesota, then your players should be held accountable to the state of Minnesota. Tinsley should be publically punished.

Publicly punished? What do you have in mind, Maximus...hanging, stoning? Boys will be boys...if I was getting my ass beat by the cops, I'd sure as hell fight back too. We've seen the true colors of the Minneapolis PD...they love to beat on people and lie about it later.

Comparing the Wisconsin's media's criticism of the Badger program to the Minnesota media's criticism of the Gophers is ridiculous.

Finding dirt on athletes is the only thing that the Minnesota media is known for nationally (remember the Love Boat?). This is a significant game to local fans (of both Wisconsin and Minnesota) and all the Twin Cities media coverage, once gain, boils down to fake concern over who's drinking beer before they're 21.

Why?

How much the Wisconsin media's coverage that is critical to the Badgers have you actually read?
