Welch with a path to the basket with 18 seconds left. Driving. Tubbytime TO. Like watching the movie Groundhog Day.
Why does he not trust his players? How many more games might we have won the last two years if could help himself from icing
his own team at the end of games?

When he trust his players they throw up 30 foot jumpshots.

When Tubby takes timeouts, people get mad. When he doesn't take timeouts, everyone said he should have.

Fire Tubby now! Seriously this meltdown wasn't nearly as bad as some others, but the pattern is frustrating as hell.

At least the Adelman tutorial is on tonight for all the staff to watch on the flight home.

That was a good timeout. Welch has made many stupid decisions and often drives when he shouldn't. He had no path to the basket that possession.

Geez, how can you side with a college coach with 30+ years on the bench against some anonymous second guesser who probably never played beyond high school? We had the ball with a chance to win. Just didn't have the guy (yet) to make the play.

Austin fouling out was huge. Coleman passed up a shot on the baseline or a chance to continue to the basket with under half a minute (?). Then on Burke's (?) lay-up he came over late and literally backed out of the way. It's confidence, confidence, confidence. Our other two freshmen unfortunately have the most of it and not our older players.

As frustrating as that game was, I'm not sure how you can't be hopeful for next year. That was the league co-champion we should have beaten. Much of the game we had a junior, two sophomores, and two freshmen out there. Whether or not they'll do it, we have some pieces ready to take the next step: EE will only get smoother, Andre looks like our leader, Austin needs to get stronger, and our three best "athletic" types all have the potential to improve their ball handling and shooting.

Hell, after MS and then Iowa, it looked like the wheels might totally come off. You can sputter, whine, and spaz all you want about these close losses, but there's a lot of reason to look forward to next year. I'm looking at it as growing pains that will result in reward.

I agree with what you're saying in your post and bolded that part about Coleman because it was frustrating. Really was good game.

It was a good game - but hard to lose in a way that feels so familiar. Great play by Dre and more to come.

Mulligan, lets see how many of this team are left standing after the off-season. Tubby needs to be able to connect better with his players. He has checked out for most of the past 2 years and his team is very undisciplined. They need to be looser and have fun on the court. They are afraid to make a mistake and play stiff against zones and at the end of close games. They cannot finish. Much of this is due to recruiting/coaching both with a lack of talent and poor execution.

They do not have a lack of talent, they have a lack of confidence and right now are not having fun and don't seem to have cohesivenes.

Are you kidding me? Did you watch the bench tonight?

This is my biggest concern.

Same end of game pattern the last two years. Play to not lose and we lose. Great coaches get their teams to execute at the end of games. He can't. It is a disturbing pattern that any objective person can see. Bow down to Tubby. He can do no wrong!

The TO was a good one. We have milked too much clock in other possessions to take HORRIBLE shots. He wanted something set up and it almost worked. People forget HOW YOUNG that team in the floor was in the last minute.

He has called a couple of strange TO's over his tenure as coach, I remember the one where Westbrook nailed a three and it was waved off because Tubby had called a TO. The look Westbrook gave Tubby was a classic.
