People are angry and upset with Brewster/Fisch/Davis & company justified by the last two games in particular. I can buy that. But under Masonball, most fans (me too) were frustrated and apathetic and largely realized the program would never be anything more than mediocre. And get to low level bowl games by beating up on weaklings. Brewster wants none of that and has brought in a fresh new and postive attitude and many have subscribed to it. He has preached success and insists he will build a solid program. The bar has definitely been raised and I was 100% in favor of that.

After a brief two year honeymoon period, increasingly more fans are restless and recently we have witnessed a lot of gnashing of teeth, cursing, booing and "fans are fit to be tied". Apathy has been replaced by anger and disappointment. Brewsterball has created a new attitude from the fans that clearly now demand more. Fewer and fewer fans are willing to give him another year.

Brewster has brought a lot of this on himself and but remains firm and patient in his expectations. It will be interesting if he can convince Maturi to hang in there with him into 2010 if the product on the field does not improve and soon.

Does anyone have a UM Smurf Brick I can borrow while I watch the Iowa game?

Bayfield - Anger is better than apathy. One thing that makes Brewster more tolerable is knowing that his vision/ego/expectations/experience is to be a champion and a big-time serious program. His predecessor's ego/vision/expectations/experience was the 10 years we just had. Yesterday was painful. Can he get us there? The stakes are higher for the U. They have made an investment in the facilities. People have ponied up a lot of money to raise the status of the program. The bar is set higher. I think he needs next year for sure. Let's hope next year it is not even a discussion and we are excited for an extension.

Butch. We have yet to see 4 quarters of good football. We may have already played our best game; MSU, in spite of the endless penalties. Not a rap on SDSU, but the Gophers played to the level of their opponent, or at times worse. That seems like an easy thing for the Gophers. Minnets comments were correct. The fans have rarely seen what Brewster has boldly promised and few expect it at Iowa.

This is a critical point, and I mean critical. The anger and frustration on this board is exciting to me because it means Gopher fans have expectations for the coaching and play of the team.
