Andy Katz chimes in on Ralph

I can't really argue much with what Katz is saying. In my opinon losing Trevor would have been debilitating to our 2011-12 Big Ten/NCAA chances. Losing Ralph would hurt (6-11 guys with some of his skills don't fall out of trees), no doubt, but it would be nowhere near the blow to the program as losing Trevor (on the court).

Relax. Just because he declares doesn't mean he has any intention of staying in. Some players just like to get feedback on what they need to work on. Also can provide extra motivation to get his game to where it needs to be to reach that level.

• Minnesota's Ralph Sampson III surprised the coaching staff by declaring for the NBA draft. The junior big man has had a hard time finding consistency during his three years in Minneapolis. But the coaching staff at Minnesota has no idea what Sampson III will do between now and May 8. If Sampson were to leave, it wouldn't be a crushing blow. Now had it been Trevor Mbakwe, that would have been a different story. The Gophers are befuddled by Sampson and his inability to be demonstrative and assertive on a regular basis.

Disagree. An injury to Mo, Trev and EE would be very damaging.
