"2. Butler coach Brad Stevens is enjoying the CBI and anticipates a semifinal matchup against Pitt that would be likened to an NCAA tournament game. “Pitt is healthy right now and playing well,’’ Stevens said Tuesday night. Stevens, who coached in consecutive national title games, said the CBI has done wonders for his team. “I look out on the court and see three freshmen and six guys in our top eight who are freshmen and sophomores,’’ Stevens said. “That’s why we’re not in the NCAA tournament. But we’re getting better and growing.’’


This is how I am feeling this year about our Gophers and the NIT.
 

All Stevens does is make excuses. Who cares if most of your rotation is underclassmen? GET OUT THERE AND WIN. I can't believe the Butler fanbase settles for mediocrity like this. Get him out of there and find a hungry young mid-major coach who's willing to do what it takes to win.

Yep, totally kept in perspective with recent results. Stevens hasn't won an NCAA game in....

I'm encouraged by what I've seen these last few weeks and I'm not a fire tubby guy, but his performance merits concern from fans.

That would be both funny and ironic if Butler had not made the tournament the two previous years instead of being the national runner-up.

What have they done for their fans lately?!? NO excuses!!!!! Put up or shut up!! What steps is the Butler AD taking to ensure that he is not allowing his fanbase to settle for mediocrity? Is the problem at Butler systemic? You can give Stevens one more year to right the ship if you want, but I for one will not settle for mediocrity. I mean, the CBI? Butler fans are supposed to celebrate this garbage? Pathetic. And all the Stevens Kool-Aid gulpers are downing it by the gallon! Get him out of here and find a hungry young mid-major coach who isn't content with CBI invitations!!
 

They would be building a statue for Tubby if he had accomplished here what Brad Stevens has accomplished at Butler. Maturi would have already locked him up with a lifetime contract. The bitching would be optimism.

Unfortunately Tubby hasn't accomplished close to what Stevens has the last number of years.

Better question is how in the hell did Brad Stevens and Butler make it to back to back Final Fours without a practice facility and playing in out of date arena built in the 1920s. Thats impossible, couldn't have happened.

And how did he develop two NBA players without a practice facility for them to get better in??

Something fishy is going on at Butler.

Butler is not competing recruiting wise (or for the most part, playing wise - the majority of their games are NOT played against BCS opponents) with schools who have practice facilities. Chances are a recruit who visits butler with no practice facility has also visited other schools with no practice facility. Minnesota competes for recruits with multiple schools with practice facilities, while we do not have them.

No offense, but that is a really dumb post. No comparison whatsover unless I am missing some of the Tubby immaculate finishes at the UofM over the years
