Pitino came out last night and said that Hollins suffered a turf toe over the weekend. For those that follow football, you probably know this is a serious injury. NFL athletes usually take 6-8 weeks to recover. And by recover, I mean no practice or games..

Now, Hollins played last night, so I am hopeful that the injury is minor or Pitino misspoked when he called it a "turf toe."

I'm assuming we will hear more about this after Christmas, so I thought we should have a thread

I'm a huge Gonzaga fan as well & last year their point guard Kevin Pangos dealt with turf toe most of the year after getting hurt in their early season tournament. I don't believe he missed a game all year, but the injury was noticeable as it really impacted his explosion & ability to change directions quickly. If Hollins does have turf toe, he could definitely play through it but might miss some practice time & limit his mobility a bit throughout the year.

Which scares me because that high ankle sprain really had an impact on Hollins last season. And there really isn't a whole lot a player can do to quicken the recovery process

Good to know I'm not the only Gonzaga fan on GH. But yeah, Pangos wasn't himself all year. Really hope we don't see Dre go out like that.

As much as a I respect Dre's legacay, I more care about our tournament run. No Hollins at 100% and it's really going to be an intense uphill battle

Exactly, this is a tough injury to deal with because the only thing that really heals it is rest. For Gonzaga, Pangos took off 2-3 months after the season & now is back to 100%. Unfortunately that type of rest can't happen in season.

I assume like any 'sprain' there are degrees, and the fact that he played last night hopefully indicates it's minor. If he didn't injur in on Friday and he didn't practice all week-end, exactly how did he injure it?
