"Minnesota signee Andre Hollins has had a phenomenal high school season thus far. During the summer Hollins was a very talented guard who could light it up from the three point line at times, but wasn't always as assertive as he could have been. Now that he is the primary scorer for his White Station High School team, Hollins has taken his game to another level and has scored right around 30 points in almost all of his games so far and even had a 46-point outburst against Findlay Prep, the number one team in the nation. His play has been deserving of a jump from borderline top 100 to number 44 in our current 2011 rankings."

Go Gophers!!

I'll let this be the last post I read in 2010. Some good news to end what has been yet another bad year to be a Gopher fan.

Really excited to have Andre Hollins here next year, especially if he can be a quality PG. Any possibility he moves up to 5 stars? I don't know a whole lot about recruiting, about how many 5 star recruits are in any given class?

Top 25 basketball players are assigned 5 Star ratings by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN.

If he can play point at the D1 level, he will be a huge boost to the program. Hopefully he can.

I haven't seen this kid play but he could be exactly what the Gophers need. A player that can create and score off the dribble weather it be a pull up jumper or driving to the basket. I thought Joseph would fit the bill this year but he has been inconsistant.

Joseph, IMO, is not a creator on offense, and cant get to the rim. He can shoot fade away jumpers ok, but not much else on a regular basis.

What is needed to be a creator on offense?

More athletic ability

The Badgers defense might disagree with you

'He could not get to the rack when it mattered

Kobe Bryant and Dirk have made a pretty nice living on fade away jumpers

Good god. Now Joseph is being compared to Kobe and Dirk?

Not at all, I am just saying they excel at fade away jump shots ... meaning you don't describe a player in this way: "well, he is not that good at scoring. I mean he makes fade away jumpers that are really hard to defend, but other than that he sucks."

To be a good creator on offense you need to be able to get the ball with 10 seconds on the shot clock and consistently get quality shots for you or your teammates. If Joseph drives, gets doubled and gives the ball to Ralph for an easy 2, thats creating. Joseph and Nolen both show flashes of this, but they are few and far between. Blake does not create on offense, though he is by far the best shooter on the team. A post can create if you give them the ball and they can score in big situations, kick the ball back out to shooters, etc. Basically, the Gophers dont have a go-to guy. Joseph showed tons of upside in the B10 tourney last year but now he doesnt. Hitting a fade away is a nice thing to be able to do but Kobe and Dirk can do so much more, which is why its effective. If all someone could do was hit fade away jumpers they wouldn't be a perennial all-star in the NBA.

Joseph is exactly like Kobe besides his defense, intensity, will to win, ball handling, size, shooting, scoring and play-making ability...
