White Station kept rolling, taking the MIAA overall award, and three individual awards -- seniors Jekayla Bafford (girls bowling), Andre Hollins (basketball) and Ashwini Joshi (scholar athlete). Nine other schools each had two individuals take home awards.
Hollins stepped out of the shadow of two-time BOP basketball winner Joe Jackson (now a Memphis Tiger) to help carry the Spartans to a fourth straight state tournament appearance.
“That’s the thing that’s best about this,” said Hollins, headed to Minnesota. “Everyone said with Joe gone we couldn’t go back. But we kept the legacy going.”
