Just thought I'd start a different thread on the topic of licensing fees in the lower level. This appears to be better news, but I always hold my breath when dealing with the ticket office. Take this with a grain of salt, but this is what I was told a few minutes ago by the U ticket office.

Question #1: I just heard a rumor that all lower level men's basketball season-tickets will require a seat-licensing fee beginning with the 2009-10 season. ... will all lower level seats require a seat-licensing fee beginning this coming season?

Ticket Office Answer: "No, that is completely false. The only seats that will require (additional) licensing fees are those at center court." I didn't ask the phone rep to define "center court."

Question #2 (because I wanted an answer specific to my case): I then asked point-blank. ... I sit in Section 101, directly behind the basket on the Gopher end of the floor; will I be required to pay any additional fees for the right to keep those seats?

Ticket Office Answer: "No. Section 101 will not require a seat-licensing fee. Your seats will not require any additional fees."

That leads me to believe that, at least for this season, I'll pay roughly the same amount for my seats (though expecting some kind of increase) as I did last season. I guess I'll find out soon enough when my season-ticket renewal application arrives in the mail.

my gophersports online ticket account lists my 2nd level chairback seats at the "regular price" - no seat license listed

That's interesting because we have a $700 donation attached to our seats in the corner (108).

But, if there are people that are spared this donation, that is good news. Maybe a lower level shake-up will be a good thing.

Do they do them in waves with better seats first? Don't have my renewal yet and no option to renew online that I can see - we are upper deck end opposite the students.

I got my app. today. Section 108. No premium, just the regular season price.
