Alvarez: "Look at our friend Joel...how much hes spending on guys who arent coaching"

Anyone have the figures on what we will be paying and for how long on the Mason and Brewster mistakes. How long before we come out from under those contracts?

On another note: I can't imagine Wisconsin making Beilema a top three paid Big Ten coach - 5th sounds about right, but it would only take a couple hundred thousand to go to 4th and close (1.2 million to take him to third.)

The Brewster buyout was rather small. I think only $500,000. I think the Mason/Monson buyouts were combined in to a 7-year loan from the university so there would be a couple years left on those.

BB no longer visits the DryBean in Verona WI. that is a good start

Gag me. BA should worry about his own program not the Gophers. Rather than give enema a raise buy him a jacket to wear on the sidelines that fits him and doesn't zip up to his nose. what a tool.

Yea, b/c what I took from that article was that Barry was trying to give us advice...sheesh. My hatred for the Badgers knows no bounds but BA isn't wrong. There is no reason the U should have had to pay out for Mason the way they did if his contract revision and firing had been handled competently. Brew is less of an issue. In his case the problem is that they went and hired the wrong guy.

By .ringing up the Gophers I think Alverez is just trying to justify giving a raise to someone when everyone knows he is already well compensated. No team is going to knock down enema's door anytime soon, unless he replicates this Rose Bowl sometime in the next two years. My guess is we see a steady decline.

Bottom line for the Gophers we have close to 1 million being spent per year on mistakes made by Maturi - i know this has been gone over before, but I can't beleive he still has a job. It will be interesting to see who the next President of the U brings in. I think Jo Paterno's quote is quite appropriate - " An AD can be around to fire one head coach, but he/she will never be around to fire another." I wish we would have followed that piece of wisdom.

Every so-called mistake by Maturi was either fully endorsed by President Bruininks, or initiated by Bruininks. When are you guys going to start getting it right? Maturi still has his job because he has been doing exactly what his boss Bruininks wants him to do.

Very good point.

I am aware that unloading Mason was all Bruininks, but Monson's buyoff and the upcoming seven-figure settlement from the golf fiasco is all Maturi.
