All Things Gopher Baseball

Contribution from the entire lineup. Selvig struggled with command but was able to minimize damage when he was in trouble. Sperry pitched well and looked like the reliable guy he showed a lot of last season.

Sperry was great. Really locked down the Hatters lineup and stabilized the game after every inning was back and forth. Fielding was in Gophers favor too. Other than an overthrow by Selvig on first play of the game it was clean. Stetson made a couple of really bad errors that led to big innings. Credit Gophers for capitalizing.

Quick turnaround today. 9am CST? What is this travel ball?

8-0 for the Gophers. Morton goes 6 innings and D2 transfer Ben Gregory throws 3 in relief. Strong start for the club
It is 2026 every game should be available to see! Stats sure looked like a couple key transfers performed well in their initial appearances. Another triple from Ty Allen today as well and Easton Richter is off to quite the start.

Hard to be better on the mound than today. Not much solid contact off of Morton (looked like movement on the fastball and a plus slider) and Gregory was spotting the fastball and also looked like had some nice straight change ups.

Martin with a big at bat where he showed bunt again on a 0-1 count and pulled back and ripped the double to right center.

Richter is dialed in. The home run looked like it bounced off the top of the wall. Let's keep it rolling!

You make the trip or is there video somewhere?

Kris Hockenson went 0-4 with 2k for Murray State
Remington did get the win in relief with 3.2 scoreless innings at South Florida. It will be interesting to see how departures do. Even in the portal era and with a coaching change, the Gophers had been good at retaining core players up until this past season (Counsel aside from before that). Like the start though...

I’m in Surprise at the Oregon State tournament. Michigan looks to have a good club. They upset my Beavers Friday and took down Stanford last night. Great tournament lineup with Stanford, Arizona, Michigan, and Oregon State. Every club has multiple national championships.

Kruzan really attacked with fast balls. Consistently 91-92 but touched 94. Urban and Jaenke very solid. I think just one runner reached third (iirc), and that was on an error. Richter had a great diving catch in center (he really covers a lot of ground), and Mosh had some nice plays at second.

Gophers didn't knock the ball around but had some timely hitting and good at bats (not many bad swings) and the stolen bases paid off.

Can't recall the last time we had back to back shutouts. I think in 2022 we shutout Saint Thomas twice, but not back to back.

Seemed like they did a good job extending ABs and really making the pitcher work this weekend often resulting in walks but you would know better seeing it. Could just be pitchers unable to find the zone.
