Many of our problems relate to the corruption in the media today. There is no accountability, the truth becomes what they want it to be AND they can be bought. Leftists have bought and control the media to a large degree. This creates an atmosphere where politicians on one side are not accountable for what they do and their agenda is sold no matter how harmful it is. I blame the media more than the politicians. If there were no IRS how many would not pay their full tax bill? The media is meant to be the effective IRS of politicians, but it has failed.

Here is yet another example of media being corrupted by money to forward a narrative. This is not my opinion, this happened:

If you watch Maddow, Cuomo, Reid, NBC, etc.

All those shows are so far out there, it's crazy.

Keep in mind though, the red wave that's coming is going to be epic. Thanks looney lefties and media. You couldn't f--k it up more if you tried.

No doubt 60% of the public realizes what a scam this has been. Unfortunately the leftists don't much care. The agenda is to slam in as much entitlement as possible and eliminate as much freedom as possible over the next 12 months. It is very difficult to reverse the loss of freedom and almost impossible to eliminate entitlements once given. They know this and I actually don't think the real Alinsky types much care about 2022. Maximum damage now is what they are after. Killing American power means forwarding the globalist agenda and environmentalist/climate change agenda (one and the same).

Most of the people we see posting here from the left are clueless lemmings who will find themselves to be victims of their own compliance years from now.

You have convinced me. We should tax the sh!t out of Bill - is 75% enough? - on his current investment portfolio value too! He doesn’t need that much money anyway. Then when he dies, he can give his family $1M dollars and the Government gets the rest - which will be spent wisely, of course. This is clearly the blueprint for a high functioning society. Clearly. For sure.

Explain why the country didn't fail when that was basically our tax policy?

It was in the 1950's and inequality was way down from the gilded age and way lower than today. The middle class was doing better than ever, yea the 50s were an economic nightmare.🙄

You guys are all brainwashed by special interests who have been pushing your shit out for decades thru think tanks and economics departments.

Greed wins for you, you are a hero...

It never was our tax policy. NO ONE PAID THE TOP RATES. There were oodles of ways to dodge taxes, loads of loopholes and exemptions if you had the money and the right tax guy. The bottom line on taxes is that you essentially get the same percentage of GNP in collections regardless of rate. Raise taxes too high- retard GNP. Lower them too much- GNP soars but collections don't keep up. You have to keep taxes balanced. The left has no interest in that. The right loves to keep taxes nearer where they should be but then they fold to the left on spending.

Government is to big by a factor of 2 or 3 X and the BBB is only going to make the long term problem worse by hooking people to more entitlements and deepening the debt.

Still true today, even with lower rates.

This marks another day in a several year sage where the media has lied about a story end to end. Today is a little payback and I hope their are libel suits flying at many major news organizations.

No it is not true today. It is extremely difficult, as an individual, to avoid taxation today, the only ones that consistently do it are major corporations....because they have the ability to move assets and influence government officials

Like when Nick Sandmann settled for $50k nuisance fee?

Or like when Trump said he was going to open up the libel laws?

The very rich just borrow money with their stocks as collateral and end up paying next to nothing in tax as their income is next to nothing.

Anyone worth a 100 million or more can dodge taxes as good as any corporation. Donald Trump is a prime example.

That doesn't have to be the case.

Even if it is, we could recapture most of it upon transfer or death.

How many of these $100 million dollar boogey men are there? It is estimated that there are a whopping 5000 households in this net worth range in the US. If you just confiscated the 100 million from each of the 5000 households you would net 500 billion dollars. The Democrats proposed today to spend 1.75 trillion dollars. This is what a knucklehead you are. You have no idea what you are talking about. Confiscate the money of the rich and the left will still overspend.

The discussion has absolutely nothing to do with spending.

It has to do with maintaining a society where it doesn't become a small number of land owning lords and ladies with the rest of the peasants left renting their house from their boss.

I guess you think Bill Gates as the largest owner of farmland is a great thing, it will usher in a new generation of farmers and give our kids all the best opportunity...
Right?

Avoid it completely? Yes. But avoid a good %? No.

on the media -

my point of view is that Fox News and MSNBC are not the real problem. They have a clear point of view (or bias) and anyone with a functioning IQ can understand that, and choose whether or not to watch them.

The problem is that the other traditional media sources have gotten away from straight reporting and gotten into this mish-mash of news, opinion and commentary.

if there was a clear, non-biased or straight-forward alternative to the 'advocacy' media outlets, I think a lot of people would go to those sites.

But, it's gotten harder and harder to find news sites that offer old-fashioned reporting.

and, my feeling is that the real issue is not with "liberal" or "conservative" news - it's with the new school of reporting that emphasizes conflict over context.

with all the coverage over the Infrastructure Bill and the larger spending bill, I bet that less than 10% of the public could correctly offer a factual account of what is included in those bills. the media doesn't care about the content of the bills. all they care about is the horse-race aspect of "which side wins and which side loses."

Right?
If you're a peasant, just become a land owning lord.

Did I do that right?
