It seems that the GOP plans to treat cancel culture as the existential threat that must be defeated for the '22 elections. People, this is a Flight 93 situation. We need a thread to discuss this urgent issue.

This reminds me of when Bush/Quayle ran on "family values"...which is what you go with when you got nothing. Not even fear is going to work as well in 2022 and 2024 because things will have improved and stabilized under the current new leadership.

Sometimes, all you need to be successful is for your opponent to be incompetent. I've never been concerned about a Sleepy Joe regime, with Nancy and Chuck right at his side. What could go wrong?

When your side is comprised of whackadoos like Jamie Goodall, you should be prepared for there to be some blowback and disagreement, don't you think? You think most Dems are on board with stuff like this?

Push to change the name of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I don't remember voting for the role of <checks notes> Staff Historian in the U.S. Army Center of Military History in last year's Democratic primaries, but perhaps this lady was running unopposed.

Sometimes it's hard to tell who the real snowflakes are. Well, not that hard... Whining about cancel culture is about the lamest thing ever.

In your own words, define cancel culture.

It’s a hard topic for Republican. It’s the personal responsibility/freedom of speech/economic freedom thing.
I'd like to know if anyone has really been deprived of their right to expression. I'm pretty sure what they're talking about is the right to say or do anything without being held accountable for it, which didn't make it into the constitution.

The question though is to who's account will you be held for it?

Got some bad news for you: it's a free country. I can say practically anything I want to about your kooky ideas.

So you think the real snowflakes are the individuals complaining about changing the name of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as opposed to those that actually think we need to change the name of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or those that actually get offended by the name of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

At some point, we might want to quit finding victims in everything we do. Don't you think?

Cancel culture is a cultural phenomenon and problem. Politicians and the government should play no role. The GOP is simply trying to capitalize on the fact that the cultural left is out of control, but it’s both wrong of them to get involved and a mistake. Do Something!! Is almost always wrong.

that out of the way, cancel culture is real and a problem.

Oh yes, mostly definitely! The complainers are the bigger snowflakes.

Some random historian writes an op-ed about romanticizing pirates, and the true snowflakes get all in a huff and twist it into a "push to cancel the Buccaneers". Did you actually read her article? She asks a broader question of why we romanticize pirates using the Super Bowl the backdrop but also looks at the history of Tampa and pop culture like Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't think she actually said they should change the name, just asks a broader question.

So easily triggered...

:ROFLMAO: Cancel culture is only real to the easily triggered.

Here, SNL has some fun with it.

By the easily triggered you must be referring to the woke liberal mob at the NY Times who forced an editor to resign because he published an Op-Ed that hurt the woke mob’s feelings.

What about the folks who are upset over the idea of changing the TB Bucs name? Are they easily triggered, or not?

True Cancel Culture is to attack anybody who doesn't toe the precise Trumpist/QOP Party line. Absolutely disgusting.

Isn't most of this just Hannity / Carslon alarmism "People are trying to change things!" ginned up outrage to sell incontinence pants?

Don't forget reverse mortgages and 1-year canned food supplies for when Biden implements Socialism and you have to hide in your bunker.
