Big congrats to Trevor on his selection for 2nd team.

Couple of surprises.

And not be a homer for our Gophers, but Lewis Jackson, Nankivil, etc. over Hoffarber?

Jackson is one I can't figure out...Hoff markedly better in every statistical category?

These are also kinda important.

Note to Tubby....count how many guards are on the all-Big Ten team. Please let's emphasize recruiting to that position in years to come.

I don't at all agree with Moore being first team.

I don't take any stock in these since Damian Johnson was absent from the All-Defensive team last year. That was a crime against humanity.

Hoff is so underrated he wouldn't even make the all-underrated team.

Underrated in war; underrated in peace; underrated in the hearts of his countrymen.

I love the Hoff. One of my all-time fav's.

Of course, not to take away from The Beast's accomplishment. First of two straight annual honors, I hope.

I don't either because Sullinger is overrated. Just ask dboy.

sullinger NOT POY???

osufan, station, drdon, etc... run, boys, run.. the facts are in.. crow, anyone?

dboy, get your facts straight. I NEVER said Sullinger would be POY. I have just had more fun getting under your skin when you said he was overrated. BTW, there is no crow left after all you have had to eat.

You also said he wouldn't be first or second team All-Big Ten. He is in fact first team. Crow, anyone?

1st team All-BT and obviously runner-up for POY. You of course said he'd make 1st team. Oh wait...

That's the Purdue voting bloc (Painter, Weber, Izzo, Crean) at work - they have a clique, that when in doubt always votes "Purdue."

Izzo and Painter have always gotten along, but a clique? And uh, not so sure about Crean.

I think a more understandable reason is that Purdue finished 2nd and the Gophers finished 9th.

I don't care if Purdue finished #1, and we finished #11:

Jackson: 8 ppg, 3.9 assists, 3.2 rebs, 0.8 steal, 33% from 3 (junior), 2.03 A/TO ratio
Hoffarber: 13.7 ppg, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebs, 1 steal, 39% from 3 (senior), 2.03 A/TO ratio.

Some weird votes in there...I guess the Purdue crew of Painter, Crean, Izzo, Weber, etc. does stick together...

These are individual awards, not team awards. If you want to use a team finishing higher in the standings as a tie breaker fine, but if one player ties or exceeds another player in every statistical category then they are more deserving of the award. Period.

I would have voted for Hoff, but I don't think there's much doubt the voters spend far more time looking at players from the better teams.

Hoffarber could have been honorable mention, but I am glad Trevor got his spot on the 2nd team. Ralph and Colton should be looking in the mirror and asking themselves why they couldn't even come close to cracking any of these lists in a conference that was short on size.

So how does Purdue win COY and POY when they finish two games out of first? These aren't team awards, they're individual awards.

Hoffarber maybe deserved an honorable mention. But don't knock others to promote Hoff. He probably gets it if the team wins 3/10 instead of 1/10.

Painter won COY because he took 2 stars and 8 or 9 non-stars and got 25 W season.

Johnson won POY because he was the best player in B10 game after game.

Hoffarber was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention by the media. He also was the Gophers' representative for the league's Sportsmanship Award.

I'm pretty sure I didn't say the 1st place team should win all of the awards. FWIW though, I think Matta should have won.

Glad Blake was recognized by the media...I swear that wasn't there last night.

First, if there is a voting block(which I don't think there is), I highly doubt Crean is in it. He coaches at that school down south and that school down south hates Purdue. For somebody from that school to support anything Purdue, especially in basketball, would be crazy. Besides Crean has rubbed some people the wrong way with is antics like taking a curtain call in the lobby of Ass Hall after they beat Illinois.

With that said, Painter and Weber are good friends(Weber recruited Painter, coached him, Painter was an assistant under Weber) but I really doubt after Purdue beat Illinois in Mackey, Painter said to Weber "Hey Bruce, vote for JJ for POY and me for COY." Also when I read Gene Keady's book he talked about how he was really good friends with Jud Heathcote at MSU and they would talk in his office after games and such. While I don't think Painter and Izzo are that good of friends, I think they is mutual respect between the two.

Personally I couldn't be happier that JJ and Painter got the awards they did and I thought they were all well earn, besides JJ DPOY that was terrible. If someone wanted to argue for Matta or Beilien for COY I wouldn't say you are wrong they are both great choices, and if someone wanted to argue Sullinger for POY, I would say he was a great choice as well.

I really believe Painter was hands down COY. To lose what was potentially the POY and to still end up 2nd in big10 with a top 15 or so ranking. Great job. Matta is solid but didn't have much adversity to deal with from what I remember.
