So, Matt H notes this in a tweet (I have no reason to doubt his accounting):

"By my count, #Gophers have lost a combined 56 starts from offense/defense due to injuries this season. 6 a game! Absurd."

Has the vindictive Iowa deity focussed its attention on our Gophers (and developed an appetite for the entire team, not just running backs)? I know that injuries are a part of the game. Here's my question-how does 6 per game differ from the norm, either historical program norm or what other teams have experienced this season? Anyone know?

OL has lost 3 0f 5 starters for most of the year. DB - 1 starter and 3 or 4 backups at least. TE and Receivers have lost at least 3 if not 4 for most of the year. That's just off the top of my head. Seems like a bit over the norm to me.

Go Gophers

I didn't see you posted that already, I added it to another thread. This number also doesn't include backups who would be starters because of these injuries. Guys like Ace Rogers.

It's more like what afflicted Northwestern last year.

Still would love to know (Matt H, are you listening?) how our total number of starts lost compares with previous seasons, or other teams (like NW last year). I'd like to think that what we've experienced this year is abnormally high.

I'm sure someone would love to get you the info. you need, but the headline of the thread isn't conducive to getting the views from the right folks, I suspect.

Hopefully we bring it back down south with us and leave it there.

What is absurd about this is that some people won't recognize it and its impact on the this season record. The worst part is that some people say it dismiss it as whining or and excuse. The fact or reality is that it is a miracle that they been able to play as well as they have.
