Mitch Leidner, QB, Minnesota

Some may be hyping Minnesota’s quarterback as a potential top prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft, but like most passers in the Big Ten it would appear Leidner will have to have a truly standout season to even be considered for a Heisman Trophy run. Leidner had just 14 touchdowns to 11 interceptions last season and 270 rushing yards with six scores.

Go Gophers!!

His Heisman chances are slim and none and slim is long gone. He could throw 50 passes a game to our receivers and still come away with only 210 yards. It's nice however that all the magazines mention a few players from every team in the nation to be up for some award they have no chance at. The touchy, feely folks must love it...

Thoughts on the Heisman: the Heisman claims to honor the top player in college FB. What it REALLY honors is the top QB or RB from a high-profile team that has a winning season, and preferably is contending for the national playoffs.

Quick check - last 45 years - 21 QB's, 21 RB's, 2WR/KR (Des Howard, Tim Brown) and 1 DB/KR (Charles Woodson).

As far as Leidner - Yeah, he's not going to win the Heisman. BUT, if he plays well enough to at least get mentioned, or get a couple votes, then that means the Gophers are probably having a very good season, and I'll take that.

If we roll into the B1G Championship game at 12-0, he'll get mentioned.

listen, he is not very good. He will not be demonstrably better this year than last year. he will be the same as he has ever been ----inconsistent on the passing, fumbling on the running.

Wow, this is coming out of nowhere. What's gotten into you?

No offense to you too. Take a walk and cool it for a while.

So he will basically be like every other college quarterback?

This. There really aren't many good college QB's. Tough position to play and so reliant on O-Line and receivers. Leidner is way above average in the realm of college QB's.

Show me on the Teddy Bear where Mitch touched you.

Any opportunity...pretty sad for you, for you are so predictable.
