at Syracuse -- Greg Paulus and the orange play tough for the first half, but the Gophers eventually grind away the victory. Late touchdowns on a keeper by Weber, and a 20 yd scamper by Duane Bennett seal the game for us. W 35-17 (1-0)
Air Force -- The kickoff of TCF and an excitable Gopher faithful give the Maroon and Gold enough to bury the Falcons. First half TD catches by Carpenter and Decker, and a Punt Return TD by Bryant Allen ignite the raucous crowd. Gophers D stifles the Falcons triple option throughout the second half. W 38-21 (2-0)
#14 California -- Cal's Jahvid Best presents problems for the Gophers from the start on his way to 139 yds and 2 TDs. Gophers come back in the second half led by a Kim Royston INT TD, and a Decker TD catch from Weber. FG as time expires by Cal breaks the heart of the sellout crowd at TCF. L 31-28 (2-1)
at Northwestern -- Gophers come out in a flurry to punish the Wildcats. Weber tosses 3 first half TD passes to Brandon Green, Carpenter, and Decker. Simoni Lawrence flattens NW Qb Kafka on a blitz that forces a fumble. Kafka does not return. Marquies Gray sees his first extended minutes in the second half and leads the Gophers to another TD. W 42-20 (3-1(1-0))
Wisconsin -- A tense defensive battle leads to a halftime score of 3-3. Badgers lead 6-3 until Troy Stoudermire gets loose on a WR screen and scores down the sideline from 62 yards out. The Gophers follow it up with a 15 play drive that pushes Weber into the endzone on a QB sneak. Badgers last hopes are dashed by an acrobatic INT by Traye Simmons. Axe celebration ensues. W 17-6 (4-1(2-0))
Purdue (Homecoming) -- Gophers D suffocates the Boilers attack. After taking a 17-3 halftime lead, the Gophers' sloppy turnovers give Purdue hope. Weber's late TD pass to Decker ices the victory. W 27-17 (5-1(3-0))
at #10 Penn State -- The #21 Gophers lose their leader in Weber to injury in the 2nd Qtr. but take only a 13-7 deficit into the half. Heavy Rain creates muddy, sloppy conditions that allow the Gophers' Marqueis Gray to make plays with his feet as he rushes for 63 second half yards. Minnesota takes the lead for good on a Bennett TD leap into the endzone with 8 minutes left in the 4th. An Evan Royster fumble of a mud soaked football gives the Gophers the win in front of a national TV audience. W 24-20 (6-1(4-0))
at #5 Ohio State -- #13 Gophers play in their biggest game in years in front of 100,000+ in Columbus. Pryor and the buckeyes prove to be too much as Brandon Saine rushes for 2 TDs. The Gophers challenge late, but a Weber INT in the endzone dashes the Gophers hopes. L 28-17 (6-2(4-1))
Michigan State -- An energized Halloween crowd provides the #15 Gophers with all the momentum they need to shut down the Spartans. A 14-0 halftime leads gives the Gophers plenty of room to have fun in the second half with TD rushes by Gray and an end around TD from Stoudermire. LB Sam Maresh adds the icing on the cake for the Halloween celebration with a fumble return TD into the student section endzone. W 35-19 (7-2(5-1))
#19 Illinois -- The #14 Gophers struggle to contain Juice Williams in the first half as the Illini score on their first 3 drives. Minnesota recovers from 17-7 halftime deficit to regain the lead 21-20 on a Hayo Carpenter TD catch from Marquies Gray. But with under a minute to go Williams finds Arrelious Benn in the endzone to seal the victory for the Illini. L 27-21 (7-3(5-2)
South Dakota State -- #20 Gophers have little trouble dispatching the Jackrabbits. TD rushes from Weber, Gray, Bennett, Eskridge and Hassan Lipscomb lead the way. W 41-14 (8-3(5-2))
at Iowa -- The #19 Minnesota Gophers come into Iowa City, with the chance, with some help, to go the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1962. The Hawkeyes, sporting a 6-5 record, likely need a victory to seal a bid to the Insight Bowl, and can ruin the Gophers hopes. Iowa leads early, but the Gophers take the halftime lead 14-10, on a throwback from Gray to Weber from 50 yards out. A huge punt return into Hawkeye territory by Bryant Allen, sets up a Weber to Decker TD connection. With the Gophers leading 24-16 in the 4th, and the Hawkeyes driving, Traye Simmons picks off a Stanzi pass and takes it all the way back for TD. The large contingent of Maroon and Gold fans go bananas as Floyd of Rosedale is taken for a ride around the stadium by the Gophers. Minnesota also gets the help they need as Ohio State loses at Michigan, and Penn State loses in East Lansing, sending the Gophers to Pasadena, with an outright Big Ten Championship. W 31-16 (9-3(6-2))

Hey, stranger things have happened. Nobody would have ever thought NW could have gone to the Rose Bowl in '95. Alright, I'll come back from fantasy world now...that was fun though.
