per Greder:

The expectation is that all programs within Power Five programs will have at least one collective by the end of the year, and people are putting one together for Minnesota. One working group, in particular, called Gophers NIL on the Discord messaging app has more than 185 members as of this week. As they join in, members are introducing themselves, the skill sets and connections they can offer the group and are asking questions on what might be possible for the Gophers. There appears to be dialog with U officials, according to messages.

Go Gophers!!

From the article:

“(Wong) has seen what incoming Miami Hurricane basketball players are getting in NIL and would like his NIL to reflect that he was a team leader of an Elite Eight team,” NIL agent Adam Papas said, according to ESPN.

This is saying the quiet part out loud. Where athletes go to school increasingly will be determined by financial opportunities. A piece on The Ringer this week laid it out this way: “NIL is not making a dirty game cleaner. And it’s not making it dirtier, either. It just lets the entire world know the cost of doing business.”

"The Gophers athletics department set up an interim policy on NIL in August, which states all deals for student-athletes must be disclosed to the department and received in advance before activity is conducted."

Been told right here on GH, multiple times, the schools have nothing to do with NIL.

two ways to discuss this
1. assuming teams are trying to follow the rules
2. assuming teams are not trying to follow the rules.

If we assume they are trying to follow the rules, then the U is doing things correctly. The schools are allowed to review NIL deals to make sure there are no issues with NCAA compliance.

that does not mean that MN is lining up NIL deals for its athletes. It just means that MN has the right to ensure that any deals are done under the rules. the actual deals still have to be done between the athlete and a sponsor or collective.

Now, if we assume teams are not trying to follow the rules, that is an entirely different discussion.

The same teams that followed the rules before- will follow them now. The same teams that cheated before will cheat now. The influence of money is simply going to get larger and larger, perhaps until the sport is fully wrecked and has to face a reckoning.
