Weber played great against MSU. I am not an x's and o's guy, but i loved seeing him spread the ball around and getting everyone involved. Before he'd lock on to Decker, but he seemed to use checkdowns and made some nice throws.

He's been getting his share of criticism on here lately, and i wanted to point out when he did well also. Funny how we love to criticize, but hate to praise.

Great game, Mr. Weber.

Agreed and nice post. I was one who wanted to see more of Gray but Adam really stepped up. Not having decker to fall back on seems to be a good thing for Adam.

When you have a guy like Decker it is hard not to go to him on nearly every play. For the most part it worked. Now the Gophers have all equal parts and Weber should finish strong.

I think two things were at play on Saturday:
1) Weber played really well
2) The Offensive Line pass protection was really good

Early in the year, the pass protection was suspect, especially the Cal & Wisconsin game. I thought the protection wasn't bad against Penn State & Ohio State; a lot better than I anticipated. I think this past weekend showed that they were better against PSU & OSU because they're improving and it showed against MSU.

It was fun watching Weber look around the field to 3 & 4 different options. And one thing that Weber is VERY good at is a play fake. He hides the ball very well. And although the run game didn't get huge numbers, they were at least able to keep the attempts up so the play action game could be used.

Great game by Weber. Very good game by the OL, pass protection wise.

Many people thought this might be the Gophers break out game on offense. Decker is talanted and we will miss him but having Decker in there prevented Weber from looking at our young talented recieving corp for receptions. Weber just locked on to Decker and didn't look at anyone else. People who went to games where commenting how other recievers were wide open.

Fisch said it was much easier to game plan last week because he didn't have to spend his whole time looking for ways to get Decker open in game prep. Brew always wanted Fisch to come up with plays each week to get Decker open.

I know the Oline helped out a lot in the win and they deserve a lot of credit. The point which can't be overlooked is Brewsters and Webers extreme focus on Decker. It was a hinderance for this offense. I think they might have never gotten over it if Decker was still playing.

Interesting info. While it's no secret that coaching staffs scheme to get the ball into the playmaker's hands, I wonder if they were too committed to it for Decker.

While I think that not having Decker in the game did help Weber gain confidence in other receivers, it was the outstanding pass protection that allowed Weber to find the best target.
