per Rittenberg:

Two potential lineup additions are the Pinstripe Bowl in New York, a game the Big Ten has targeted for a while, and the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, where the two sides have mutual interest. Delany wants to keep a presence in Florida with games against the SEC, but it's unlikely the Big Ten will continue to play in three games -- Capital One, Outback and Gator -- every season. Remember also that Big Ten teams will appear in the Orange Bowl more often in the coming seasons.

The Big Ten hosted representatives from 10-12 bowl games in November at league headquarters. The candidate pool has shrunk, and the league is closing in on a new-look lineup, most likely for the 2014-17 seasons.

Go Gophers!!

I'd personally like to see the gametimes spread out a bit more for the B1G. This past year, 4 B1G teams played their bowl games at roughly the same time on 1/1 (Capital One, Outback, Gator, and Ticket City). That can't be good for ratings.

I love the idea of the Holiday bowl in San Diego. It is a great place to visit. With there light rail, you would not need a car for the trip. Get a room downtown and you can walk to many venues. Then jump on the light rail and head out to Mission Valley for the game.

"The Big Ten's new bowl partnerships will instead look to the smaller, less nationally prominent bowl games. One leading candidate appears to be the Pinstripe Bowl, played in Yankee Stadium. With the addition of Rutgers and a shift in conference presence to the larger east coast media markets, this makes all sorts of sense for the Big Ten. The Pinstripe Bowl currently has a contract with the big 12 and The American (formerly Big East). Another potential option appears to be the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. The Holiday Bowl currently has contracts with the Pac 12 and Big 12. It would be unlikely the California-based bowl game splits with the Pac 12, and the Big 12 is an ideal partner, but a split Big 12/Big Ten contract could be a feasible plan in the drafting stages.

The Big Ten currently plays three bowl games in the state of Florida against SEC opponents. The Gator Bowl in Jacksonville was recently added to the bowl line-up for the Big Ten to go with the Outback Bowl (Tampa) and Capital One Bowl (Orlando). These bowl games may remain on the Big Ten's bowl line-up, but nothing is guaranteed. The games that may be more at risk of Big Ten involvement include the Heart of Texas Bowl, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, and Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas."

I'm all about the Pinstripe bowl...hopefully they can keep the Big 12 affiliation too and we can get a bowl against a southern team played outdoors north of the Mason-Dixon line. They should have been all over this from day one.
