per Rittenberg:

The drought raises questions about whether the Big Ten boasts enough elite teams or overall depth to challenge the nation's top leagues. What stands out about the SEC's run since the 2003 season -- seven overall championships, including each of the past six -- is that four teams have won titles and three (Alabama, Florida and LSU) have won multiple titles.

"I think depth is important, but I don't think you can be a great conference unless you have teams competing for the national championship," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany told ESPN.com last week. "Step 1 is getting our elite teams playing at the elite level. And then the second most important thing is quality depth."

Which to me means that the Ohio St.'s and Michigan's are more important to Delany and the B1G so they'll do whatever they can to accommodate them.

Which means they should be in same division and have a chance to be 13-0 and 11-1 and have both in title game or BCS.

Which really means that if the Big 10 can't compete for national championships with the traditional Midwestern values of educational excellence and playing by the rules then we are just going to have to forget the education and ignore the rules.

That is what I took out of this. They certainly won't want the Minnesota's of the world ruining an "elite teams" chance at the BCS........

........2006 against Penn State rings a bell. Not that they were title contenders that year......but the refs handed them the game on a silver platter.

In 2014 if by chance a Big Ten school lands in one of the top two seeds we will see if a southern school can come up north and play late fall or winter football. IMO, it will be a home field advantage.

You know it would eventually end up like this. A couple weeks ago, Big Ten Network had reruns on the best games of the season. It was basically an Ohio State season in review. Even th derpfeest against UAB was included. Sigh

The semis are going to be in Pasadena and New Orleans.

I've noticed it also -

Re-runs are usually Mich or Ohio State. If another BIG school is on its because they are playing one of them.

MN is no where to be seen except for live broadcasts which they have to televise (football and mens basketball) .

Is it all due to the expected # of viewers and TV ratings or is there favortism involved?
