Devoe has a leg injury that may force him to redshirt. I know Tubby said there's more to it than his health and we know Sid is about as reliable as a pile of rocks....but i'm just throwing it out there fro mwhat I heard on the ride to work this morning...

I heard it too. Both at 6:40 and at 7:40 Sid referred to Devoe having a leg injury bad enough that it may result in a medical redshirt this year. Sid seemed to be leaning toward this being a probable result. He said he injured it in Canada and it hasn't improved... and that is the reason why he played only a little bit in the first exhibition and not at all last night.

Is ANYONE else reporting this? Has this been discussed here?

I have very little faith in Sid but I would be relieved to hear Devoe is okay.

It wouldn't be a medical RS since he has a regular RS available....

No one else is reporting this. Devoe warmed up with the team and looked fine. He also was the designated hand-shake artist as the starters were announced. At least one of the hand shakes involved him jumping up as high as he could to collide with one of the guys (Nolen I think). Anyways, he looked perfectly healthy before the start of the game. Sid is wrong.

He did the same thing after he hit that 3 at the buzzer vs Northeastern State. My first thought was he must not be too injured.

My guess, and what I've heard, is academics. But we'll know about Devoe soon.

Jolseph could miss season opener with off the court issue. I'm hearing it could be academics.

Yeah Devoe warmed up last night and looked pretty good, nailed a few legit NBA 3 pointers during warmups. And yes it was Nolen which was the last one he did.

Sid is just making stuff up at this point. I watched the pre-game interaction between Myron/Marcus/Sid. Quincy Lewis spent 15 minutes in animated discussion with Marcus and Myron while Sid meandered around aimlessly brushing off the glad handing attempts of his 55+ year old fan boys. It's pretty obvious who is more connected to the team.

At first I was bummed I even opened this thread, but then realized I would have missed the following comment...

Maybe his legs aren't getting him to class often enough.

That alone made it worth while.

Obviously I need to check back later when it isn't just random rumors flying around.

Later.

(getting sick of this crap though)

If Devoe has an injury, why all the mystery? Someone tell us what the problem is.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Sid has dropped another notch in the last month.

Sid's ill-informed and a little crazy, but dude can MOTOR. I was walking to the game, and the ol' boy passed me like I was tied to a post.

Sid still rules. He gets more interviews and information because he still works hard at it. Is he always right? Nope, but I hope that when I am 90 I am right as often as Sid is.

I do think Sid is starting to lose it a bit (even relative to 2-3 months ago). He certainly has contacts at the U though. But he was convinced Brew wouldn't be fired mid-season. He was wrong. He's convinced Chilly woudn't have been fired if we'd lost on Sunday (I think he's wrong, but we'll never know.) OTOH, he pretty much declared Morneau out for the season about a week after his concussion. He was right and he was one of the first to call it. I think that's leading him to jump the gun on Devoe.

I agree. What is the injury exactly? Ankle? Sprained MCL/ACL? 'Leg injury' is only detailed enough if you're a New England Patriot on the NFL injury report. The rest of the world would prefer a bit more detail.

Edit: I see in another thread it is detailed to be a hamstring pull/tear. This is not minor but I hardly think it would keep him out for a whole season unless he reinjured/tore it, which clearly does not seem to be the case based on discriptions of his pre-game activities last night.

He also got pretty worked up and into a lather when Dave Lee suggested Randy Moss MIGHT come here. He wanted to move on to the next subject because Moss as a Viking wasn't worth his time to comment on. Sid basically belittled Lee for even mentioning it. One week later... Moss was a Viking.

I commented on this in the football forum last week too but did anyone hear his choo choo train alarm clock go off while he was on WCCO a few weeks back?

Sid also mentioned in his column in the last 7-10 days thatBrad Childress is "ranked as one of the best head coaches in the NFL".
