This is from a prediction on Yahoo sports.

Happens the first year the Big Ten wins the the ACC/BT challenge.

Does anyone else agree (or disagree) that this is the time of year you see the east-coast myopia of sports media?

More than anything, I think it's just the fact that the B10 is much stronger at the top than the ACC. The ACC is stronger in the middle. They have more teams, but the B10 has more Final Four-potential type teams.

I think there's some amount of bias, but I'm not sure if it extends to the selection committee.

I think Big 10 ultimately gets 5 NCAA bids.

5 teams?

I think Big 10 ultimately gets 5 NCAA bids.

So let's say the Illini lay an egg against Wisconsin Friday. Do you still say the Gophers need to win the BTT to get that 5th bid?

Illinois would be 18-14 and even with just 2 wins and a loss in the BTT we would be 20-13 including a victory over the Illini.

This question assumes nobody further down the big ten food chain wins the BTT.

Would the Big Ten still get 5 bids in this scenerio?

My guess is, "NO".

ooops

Make that scenario.

I have to say you're being a bit inconsistant. You've been banging the 'must have 22 wins to get in' drum all season. (Consistantly to your credit.) Short of the Gophers winning the BTT, neither Illinois or MN will get there. So how can you possibly think the BT gets 5 bids?
