Hi, Vol fan here... just want to say congrats on the new stadium. she's a looker! it always pained me when I saw you guys on one of the ESPN channels playing in that black hole of a dome. Kinnick, Camp Randall, etc are awesome on the tele; but that dome... Never knew why you guys got ride of Memorial in the first place; always felt the dome was a big detriment to your program.

Anyway, congrats again. Is the game on tv? If so I'll certainly have to check it out! Now, go sell that lady out, use it as a recruiting advantage, and force your AD to add another 20k in seats within the next 10 years! Always thought you Gophers were a sleeping giant with your tradition and all.

Ramble over...

Thanks, Smokey! Game is on the Big Ten Network at 6:00 p.m. CDT.

Yep, the game is on BTN at 6:00 PM central time and don't worry about those sellouts. It is already sold out... for the SEASON.

WHY?! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO PICK THE SEASON OPENER TO BE AT NIGHT?! I'M TOO EXCITED THE WHOLE DAY IS GONNA GO SLOW! LOL

thanks smokey, besides the 10k in students and 3k in visitors, the remaining seats are all season ticket holders or for athletic dept use. heres to hoping the program has a little take-off here and we can add on the other 30k seats they anticipate (they built the bowl specifically so those seats could be added on, I believe we'll get it done).

Thanks a lot Smokey! Hopefully you enjoyed it a few years back when the Gophers beat the favored Tide in the Music City Bowl!

Not too classy. Smokey thank you and may our teams meet in a BCS Bowl preferably a National Championship Game

I think you misunderstood. Smokey is a Tennessee fan who probably despises Alabama.

And for those who think that the band was classless by playing Rockytop after the game was over... we played it for the TN area fans, just the same as we had played Yellow Rose of Texas the year before at the Sun Bowl.

Thanks, Smokey. I really hope to make it down to see a Vols game in the near future.

thanks for the kind words!

considering one of our great former coaches (murray warmath - head coach of the 1960 minnesota gophers national championship football team) is a vol alum & former vol footballer under legendary coach robert neyland i will always say "welcome" to any vols fan who visits our board......so welcome!

The ambiance of the atmosphere and stadium will leave you in complete awe... but to be honest, Neyland can be a very uncomfortable stadium to watch a game in. The seats are super narrow... how else do you think we fit 100,000+ rednecks and hillbillies in that place?

but unlike the "Big House," Neyland really does look and feel huge...

With all the Bierman alumni winning NCs in the 50s & 60s, I find it semi-ironic that a Neyland alum won the Gophers last NC.

having been there...

I know first hand how far away fom the field some of the seats are.
