@AdamZagoria: Southern Miss transfer Aaron Brown is considering BC, Minnesota, Oregon, Rutgers, Iona, Southeastern, he tells @SNYtv. Visits BC tomorrow

Someone would have to be forced out to make it work. Seems very unlikely at this point. He'd be a great fit for us though. He can shoot the three and grab rebounds. Played a solid game against us in the NIT.

"Upon returning to the office tonight, after two full days away, I had the opportunity to fully review Aaron Brown's written request for a release," USM athletic director Bill McGillis said in a statement. "I was able to contact and visit with Aaron personally to discuss his request and to understand his family circumstances. I was also able to visit with coach (Doc) Sadler to gain his perspective."

Two weeks ago I said that I was worried that one of the big men wouldn't end up on the team this year. I was ripped for that comment. I am even more convinced now that one of them will not be here. Aaron Brown doesn't just pull Minnesota out of thin air as a possible transfer locale unless someone from the U got to him and told him we have a spot available. The only way we have a spot available is if someone is transferring at this point, or one of the two bigs doesn't show. Which is most likely? Rip away again, but one of the bigs won't be on the roster this year IMO.

This pick up would be huge. An experienced starter at the 3, and now we would be two deep at all positions.

There's also loopholes where we can add him as a walkon and offer him the necessary funds for his coursework, it's not that uncommon. As far as we know Gaston and Konote are coming

Agree. Something doesn't fit. This has all the makings of someone we're expecting to be here not being in school once the fall term starts.

Well that's from Doogie, so you can take that for what it's worth. I am of the opinion that Buggs' scholarship may still be in limbo depending on whether or not the potential transfer is worth it.

Are you basing this on anything other than just a hunch?

I don't think so. More like he is willing to tell someone you would be a better fit in another program if we get a SF that can help next year.

once again doogie is doing no deductive reasoning. he's taking the coach's word, and or people aren't reading what he reported. of course the coach's have no plans to open one. if el amin fan is correct, this won't be the coach's decision if one of the big incoming recruits isn't here. what doogie reported has no bearing on the bigs.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Doesn't take much to list us as one of six schools he's "considering." It doesn't get real until somebody visits (or at least, sets up a visit).

One likely scenario: we don't *think* we're going to have any room, but the coaches are pursuing alternatives just in case we do. Namely, Marcus' article on Konate indicates (as Pitino previously stated) that everybody *expects* him to make it onto campus, but the implication is that he has not yet been formally admitted.

Or, as mentioned above, we could recruit him as a walk-on with the sales pitch that he could play for a contender and get a scholarship if one opens up. (I'm not sure whether he's allowed to get other aid..kind of doubt it).

Yeah, but it's not like el-amin has any inside info either. Gaston is already on campus and Marcus reported it is inevitable that Bakary will be on campus soon as well.

I wouldn't be so quick to rule it out from a scholarship perspective. Many transfers commit to wherever they take their first visit though, so I wouldn't be surprised if Brown commits to BC within the next 48-72 hours.

Is Gaston enrolled? Being on campus and enrolled are two different things. Bakery is the only one of the two where I have read anything positive. The article mentioned him having to pass a proficiency test. Did Gaston have to do this as well...?

I think where there is smoke, there is fire.. we'll see what happens on this transfer possibility. Although EG9 is likely correct, once he visits a school, he could just make his decision.

I agree. If we sign Brown, Buggs will quietly leave and play at a lower division. Our last 3 signings, Lofton, Dorsey, and hopefully Brown, are all big time signings. We could use a break and this is a big one.

I'm guessing that because Gaston is already on campus you don't hear about things like English Proficiency tests, he probably dealt with those types of issues the first week he was here, it's a little bit harder when you are remote, you have to coordinate the time, taking the test remotely, it just takes a bit more time to do those things that way, if there was an issue you would probably have heard about it.

Buggs isn't going anywhere. He'll be around, and we'll need him, especially if we're short one of the incoming big guys.

I have no reason to think Buggs won't be here, was just curious why the poster thinks he would play in a lower division?

What do you mean if we are short one of the bigs? Isn't one of them already here and another on his way soon? I probably have not been following these two as much as others.
