A review on San Jose State

A formula that gives a team a good chance to win. Add in taking care of the ball, good ST play and making some big plays. We need more playmakers.

We may have the personnel to match up with SJSU as stopping the run has been an issue for us. But their running game should be better with likely an all Senior OL.

Will be a good test but these are the type of teams we need to beat.

reading that review got me kind of nervous. I was under the impression that they lost a ton of talent, but it looks like most of their playmakers are back from last year. I would say this will be a similar, but possibly slightly tougher game than Syracuse last year...

Power running game + home field = Keep high flying passing attack off field + undersized defense on field.

We run on these guys we control the game and win, simple as that.
We should have plenty of film to watch on them defending a power running game from their week 2 game against Stanford.

+1

However SJ State quarterback is forecasted to be exceptional next year, and a first round NFL pick. Any team that has a Number 1 pick at quarterback can win game. This could be a difficult test for the Gophers.

Didn't we hear the same from the WMU QB last year?
Syracuse QB was leading the nation in passing when we played him.

Our pass D was surprisingly stout until Wells' injury and Shabazz's toe. Claeys' scheme will challenge them to run the ball right at Hageman and Co. We either win that battle or we will have a long season ahead of us.

The loss of Eskridge shouldn't be discounted either, regardless of a senior Oline.
Bottom line: We run the ball down their throats and take care of business like a B1G team should.

Should we expect an easy victory.....NO....but this is absolutely a game that a Big Ten team playing at home should expect to win. I would fully expect it to be a battle and one we could easily lose if they play good and we play poorly. However if we are well coached, have a good gameplan and the players execute the gameplan it is a game we should win.

Pound the rock on them and hit the PA pass when it becomes available. Keep the D rested and ready to go and we win this game by 2+ scores. Struggle to run the ball and commit silly penalties and the score could easily go the other way.

I get super annoyed at the "big ten team should just run right down their throats". I've been hearing a similar refrain in all our non conference matchups for the past 5 years, and I'm still waiting for it to happen one time.

A really good Stanford team should have lost to this team at home last year. Their qb is legit. Comparing this team to either Syracuse or w mich is silly. They were much better than both last year.
This game should be a great barometer on whether we have turned a corner.

Let's see they had no depth last year, they lost their best Offensive lineman, Defensive line man, another DE, both Safeties, best Running back, and best Receiver. They a changing Defensive style and they're expected to be as good as last year? No way! They are our most formidable NC opponent but it's a very winnable game because we match up well.

to me, a new coaching staff usually changes everything, different styles, schemes, play calling makes the difference. I would say advantage us, but definitely not a game to look past...

I don't like that they get two weeks to prepare for us but I believe Kill & Co. will prove to much for them.

Let's just give SJSU the win and not even play the game, they just sound too tough.

In all seriousness though, of course SJSU can win, but they won't and shouldn't. What a loser mentality that the game on our schedule that fans seem fixated on in May is the San Jose game. Ridiculous. How about matching up with Iowa, Wisconsin, or Nebraska for god sake.

Awesome straw man set up.

Yes, why bother discussing the games this upcoming season?
