Did you know that before the game he showed the players a tape of the Iowa fans taking our goalposts out of the metrodome? Anything for an advantage.

Good. That tape should be shown before EVERY game against Iowa. That program should pay (with losses) for that crap EVERY game they play us.

They paid for our goalposts with one h@ll of an onside kick!

Thanks for sharing that tip Doc100. I was so pissed when that happened and even more pissed with Mason's "let them have them" comment post-game.

You wanted blood-shed eg9????????????????????

Over some stinking goal posts in the DAMN dome?????????????????

Man, those drunken iowa jerks had to pay with the SCREECH alarm that probably left some of them damn near deaf. And some of them were arrested.

You may live in iowa eg9, but here in Minnesota we let the POLICE force bust the heads of drunken iowa bums.

You would have had people killing each other over some stinking dome goalpoasts????????

That pretty much pi$$es me off about people like you when you make comments like that.

There are enough people getting killed, spilling blood and paying terrible prices for STUPID reasons. Defending the damn dome goal posts was NOT any kind of reason to spill a drop of blood.

We let Minneapolis Police Officers take care of the stiuation. Then, we let our judges and our court system make the fools from iowa pay when they had their day in court. But, at least we gave them their day in court eg9. And it didn;t turn into a brawl that was shown over and over on tv along with lots of comment about the violence that NCAA College Football breeds and the needless, senseless infliction of injury that is incited by crazed, drunken college footall fans in domes and stadiums all across the upper mid-west.

But, apparently if you would have been there you would have kicked ass, busted heads and defended the damn dome goal posts...is that what you are saying eg9?????????????

You're weird.

Nobody said anything about killing but I would've liked to punch them in the face.

Were some posts modified or deleted? I am not following a couple of the comments here.

You start punching members of a drunken mob in the face and pretty soon you have a real riot. Once a real riot starts, and people are punching each other in the face, pretty soon blood is shed and the whole scene totally goes wildly out of control. Mobs of people are capable of doing horrible, terrible and destructive things. Once the control of a mob scene is LOST some bad things will happen.

It was far better to let it all happen than to have had some Gopher Fans going to war with some iowa fans. IF you don't understand that, you had better revisit the "dinkey town" riots after the Hockey Team won a NC a number of years ago. It got pretty damn ugly. There are all kinds of examples of people rioting after sporting events that get WAY out of hand.

Property can be repaired. People punching other people in the face can start a riot that can get way out of hand.

I realize that eg9 was just taking a needless cheap shot at Coach Mason...so, I reminded him that things can get way out of hand when you have a drunken group of iowa fans celebrating a Big Ten Championship. Defending the damn dome goal posts would NOT have been worth the harm and damage and needless physical injury that would have resulted. I thought the situation was handled just fine by the Minneapolis Police Force and THEY were the proper force of law and order to deal with the drunken iowa mob.

Coach Mason was completely correct in his response.

You do not go to war just to go to war. Force is used ONLY when absolutely necessary and to "talk tough" about defending goal posts in retrospect is foolishness.

You say one even remotely negative remark about Mason and he will be all over you. Cant understand the worship but he has it--I think he talked to Mason personally one time and thinks mason is as close as you can get to the second coming. Why is he so negative on Prexy B and Macturi? Because they fired Mason. Simple as that. I remember him wanting to give Mason 17 years. After ten he wanted another full recruiting class and then three more years to give them a chance to see how they do. Yikes.

Sounds like a democrat to me... wanting the government to take care of everything for him...

Doc, did you hear that there were members of the M club at practice this past week, and over 100 in the locker room for the pre game. This isn't about Coach Kill, it all about Minnesota Golden Gopher Football.

I heard he was debating between this and a Lois Feldman video.

Your right about "M" coach kill has really opened up the program to the "M" men.

Ziggy Wilf's Goal Posts

Seriously...WFT?

Please, ban this jack-hole once again.

Unregistered User,

1. Why should any Golden Gopher have to defend Ziggy Wilf's goal posts? The HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors was never our home field. It was a prison sentence for the University of Minnesota football team.

2. Yesterday, we played in our home field. We had a home field advantage. We have not had that luxury in decades. This is why we won a close game. If this same game would have been played in our old prison, we would have been jobbed, just like against Northwestern and Purdue in the HHH MetroBowel of Horrors.

3. Let Iowa enjoy Ziggy Wilf and the NFL's goal posts. They are not ours.

Well, we had home field advantage last year...

The NFL / Ziggy Wilf Memorial Goal Posts

You're weird.

cncmin,

1. I see no glory or honor in defending the NFL and Ziggy Wilf's goal posts. Do you actually think anything in the HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors is worth savoring for the University of Minnesota football team? We served our 27 year prison sentence there and we have been liberated. As much as you hate it, Glen Mason is the one who delivered us from slavery in the HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors.

2. These were never our goal posts. Why would you want to defend anything in a place you were incarcerated in? To me, this would be weird.

Defending the NFL / Ziggy Wilf Memorial Goal Posts

Nobody said anything about killing but I would've liked to punch them in the face.

zambam,

1. Reflecting on a humiliating 55-0 loss to Iowa, having the video of the Iowa fans trying to remove the HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors goal posts (which belong to the NFL and Ziggy Wilf), and replaying accounts of the Lois Feldman crapper sex escapade are all useful tools for firing up the University of Minnesota football team prior to any edition of Floyd of Rosedale.

2. However, I still think any attempt to defend the NFL / Ziggy Wilf memorial goal posts in the HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors would at best be categorized as misdirected, and an exercise in futility. We were sentenced to this prison for 27 years. We have not had a home game since 1981 until 2009. As much as I hated this loss to Iowa, it was a very fitting end to a very long prison sentence. There was nothing to be savored from playing football games in this latrine.

3. Starting a melee with Iowa fans defending the NFL / Ziggy Wilf Memorial Goal Posts would have reflected badly on the University of Minnesota, and would actually have become cannon fodder for Kirk Ferentz and his coaching staff. We took a horrible beating, but the ironic thing is, this 55-0 football game will forever be used by the Minnesota coaching staff to fire up our team for every subsequent edition of Floyd of Rosedale. I think it will prove to have been a Pyrrhic Victory for the University of Iowa Hawkeye football program.

4. The problem with punching somebody in the face when thousands of drunk people congregate is we suffer results like this http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/10/28/MND61LN3LM.DTL The supreme irony here is that a patriotic Marine who put his life on the line for all of us for two deployments to Iraq is shot in the face with a tear gas canister by some angry member of the Oakland Police Department who probably never spent a day in his / her life in the U. S. Armed Forces, but wanted to punch (shoot) somebody in the face. Also see http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_19199517

You do realize both Wilf and the NFL have no ownership of the dome, right?

1. Why should any Golden Gopher have to defend Ziggy Wilf's goal posts?

Despite repeated questions about whether or not you understand that the Ziggy and the NFL have no ownership of the goalposts at the Metrodome, let me pose the question a different way:

"Defending" the goalposts is symbolic, much like defending the end zone during a game. Are you telling me that the Gophers should not have attempted to defend their end zone during a game because they are not financial stakeholders in said end zone?

The HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors teflon covered latrine

You do realize both Wilf and the NFL have no ownership of the dome, right?

zambam,

1. While the deed to the HHH MetroBowel Chamber of Horrors teflon covered latrine may not explicitly be in the name of Ziggy Wilf and the NFL, for all practical purposes, this latrine was built for the NFL / Vikings. We Golden Gophers were dragged like a conquered concubine along for the financial ride and to take it in the a$$ for the NFL / Vikings, so that public money could be wasted on building this facility for the benefit of the NFL Vikings, the MLB Twins, rock concerts, and tractor pulls.

2. We should be so glad we are liberated from this syphilitic, gonococcal, venerial wart, and herpes infested teflon covered petri dish. I am so glad that Ziggy Wilf and the NFL are its sole tenants and defacto proprietors now. May they long enjoy its wonderful amenities.

3. We are so out of there.

Is 6 NOV 1999 and iamthewalrus the same poster? They both have they same remarkable ability to go on and on about nothing.

Hey, on a related note, Kill is now only two B1G wins away from a typical Mason B1G season. Amazing considering it's his first year. ;)

Fast forward to September 28, 2013...

The Iowa Hawkeyes have yet to taste victory in Minnesota's now five year old TCF Bank Stadium...
