Said all along I don't know recruiting and I still don't. But even I can recognize when someone pulls off a last minute coup. It was a nice day for the Maroon and Gold. Now coach 'em up!

Go Gophers!

A nice day for the Maroon and Gold, you say? Let's take a look at what you had to say a couple days ago. You should still be pissed that the Gophers are still ranked *gasp* 6th in the Big 10. Right?

3) Recruiting is where the Brewster-backers hang their hats. I've seen virtual abacuses rolled out here to explain why this year's class is ranked 7th IN THE BIG 10... Someone suggested that we shouldn't worry too much because the other schools have stepped it up this year. Uh... Why shouldn't that scare the heck out of us? Even if I was ready to concede that every one of Brewster's recruits is going to live up to his potential, that still puts us well behind the rest of the Big 10 in another 2-3 years. WHAT AM I MISSING HERE...

4) Another point about recruiting. If Brewster is going to extoll his personal commitment and passion for recruiting (as well as those of his staff), then I don't want any excuses from him or any of his supports for landing a class that's been universally judged to be in the bottom half of the B10. EVER! Are my expectation unrealistic? Perhaps. But Brewster himself set my expectations. Put up or shut up!

Yes, your expectations are and will always be unrealistic. We play in the Big Ten and those schools take football every bit as seriously as we do and most have a lot more to offer than we have shown yet. There is no reason yet we should out recruit half the BT every year. None.

Do you really want to throw stones, weren't you the one asking a couple of days ago if high school kids could sign early before signing day?

GopherGod, don't get mad when I point out inconsistencies and bizarre logic...I know bizarre logic is your specialty.

Well...

I stand by everything I posted previously, but I thought I would consider the positives coming out of the day versus the negatives. Going in, it didn't look nearly as good - even you can't argue that. It was a nice day given the last minute coup.

BTW - Get off your perceived "perfect fan" pedestal and quit acting as though you are the only loyal follower of this program.

Looks like I struck a nerve! Totally contradicting yourself has nothing to do with fanhood.

Let's see... I acknowledged the last minute coup and said it was a nice surprise. Said it was a "nice" day. That's the ability to apply perspective. Didn't say "Praise be to Brewster", "best class ever", or "look out B10". That would've been contradiction.

Did you strike a nerve? Not hardly. I just call it as I see it.

You really shouldn't be pointing out anything in regards to recruiting when you didn't even have a clue how signing day worked, genius I tell you.

You do realize that a lot of these rankings are based not only on the quality of recruits but the quantity of recruits. Brewster handed out 31 scholarships last year and about 20 this year. That has as big an effect on the final ranking as about anything else. The class averages above 3-stars and while stars are a very nebulous ranking, it does show that in terms of quality of the guys coming in, it's a pretty good class.
