Say what you want about Calapari, but the guy can recruit. This could be dangerous.
 

If I can think back to my youth... there would be times where a young man and a decent looking chick (albeit 'dirty') are both at a party. All night long, the chick is hanging all over a number of dudes... paying no attention to the young man. She wants some action - bad. Any of several studs will do.

Late in the night, she gets worried the guys she has been on all night are going to leave without her.. but she still needs 'it' that evening. So, all of a sudden she starts to holla at the young man late in the night, even though some other foine hunnies have been talking to the young man since early on in the night.

Some young men say, 'you know, these cuties that I've been mackin all night are dope.. I'm taking one of them home'.. others say, 'hmm, this sl**bag (Kentucky) is looking good.. even though she just got dissed by a ton of other dudes.. I might need to hook up with her".. others say, "that girl (Kentucky) is a disgusting disgrace - I've got all the girls I need to chose from already with me... "

I don't see Cory at Kentucky. He's got plenty of hot chicks already. But, stranger things have happened.

Interesting analysis. But some would consider Kentucky to be the hottest chick at the dance. How many times does a dude dump the girl he is with to hook up with the hot chick (Kentucky) that will get him where he wants to go the quickest (the NBA, or, bed).
 


Suffice it to say if he ends up at Kentucky, he was never coming here. That would be an indication that he's either solely focused on his NBA prosects or is looking to get paid. Either way, he'd have chosen UConn or Texas if that's what he's focused on.

This is the point where the best friend (in this case brother) comes in. He either says, "Dude, you gotta hit that tonight." or he says "Your going to be pissed when you get the clap (NCAA sanctions around soph year) and the girl (Sloughbag Cal) runs to the next idiot looking for a quickie."

Time for Devoe to cock block brother back to reality.
 


I am not sure this is the best way to analyze Cory Josephs options, but I have been wrong in the past.
 



This thread is great. I love the comparision. Especailly the part about Devoe cock blocking. All this thread is missing is something about the chance of getting a STD's that you can't rid of. Maybe that can be the chance of getting the Final Four(if they are lucky enough to get there)vacated because in that Coach Cal batting 1000% when it comes to giving out STD's.

That has to be the strangest thing I have ever wrote on a message board.
 

I don't think this is surprising at all.

Calipari is likely concerned that he might not be able to land point guards Knight or Selby so he needs a Plan C.

Hopefully Cory won't be too flattered with Calipari's "johnny come lately" act and decides to stick with a school that wanted him from the get-go. (Preferably the Gophers. :) )

I totally agree. Kentucky is one of "those" schools (Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc)....we will never be in the running with kids who want that exposure.

The glass half full says that there could have been a gleem in Cory's eye when he realized that he could be the " man " on this team and he would be the one to make those shots and get his face all over ESPN.
 

It cannot hurt our cause that his brother is logging serious playing time and is clearly in the good graces of tubby.

I agree w/ both points, lol :)

seriously though, there are 2 huge points that we don't know about Cory Joseph which either put us into or take us out of the running.

1) does he want to play w/ his brother? if he does we have a huge advantage. if that is something he is strongly trying to avoid, we are SOL.
2) does he want to be more like Talor Battle and be "the guy" (granted, we have more surrounding him than PSU, but its the mentality I'm referencing) or does he want to be more like Scotty Reynolds and be good but one of many players on a great team (with NCAA title hopes)?

if he wants to avoid Devoe and win an NCAA title, we better get ready to punch our Tough Sh*t card.
 

We would be a big ten contender next year with him, no question. I have stated my opinion earlier, and I hope I'm wrong: He is going to one of the other glory schools. His brother coming here was a great pick up, but until we are a consistent winner, we will not get the 5 star recruits (unless they live in MN). Most of the 5 stars have the NBA on their mind, and those schools will point to the exposure and past success in getting a larger number to the bigs.
