I just reviewed the two deeps that were in my Star Tribune today. A few names that I thought would be in the two deeps are:

Ned Tavale - A lot of experience as a starter. I hope this means that the offensive line will be a lot better than the past few years.

Jay Thomas - I wonder if he has ever been considered a top flight back by the current coaching staff. His knee injury certainly didn't help the matter.

Sam Maresh - I know of all his medical struggles. Still, I'm kind of surprised he's not in the two deeps. He may need a year just to get back in the groove.

Ben Kuznia - Sure handed, for sure. Not nifty, but very reliable. If he's healthy, I hope he sees the field.

Now, on the flipside, there were a couple surprises in the two deeps, at least for me.

Ray Henderson - For a transfer, it feels like he has been here 6 years already. I guess we'll find out if he can play.

Rex Sharpe - For two spring games, he was not all that impressive. I thought he was like Henderson with the big background, but not much to show for it on the field. Again, we'll find out if he can play.

Any other surprises?

I am sorry but Ben Kuznia is not a Division 1 athlete. I was shocked to see him see the field at all last year.

I am pretty shocked not to see Carufel on the two deeps.

alot of misinformation

Don't rely on what is published.

:D :D :D Carufel not on the two deep....this is brutally wrong info

I haven't watched camp closely, but maybe Ray Henderson has done well enough to make the two deep. Anyone?

Kuznia is not very fleet of foot, but he is sure-handed, always in the right place, and will make the play if the ball is thrown to him. Not a superstar, but I wouldn't mind having a team full of guys like him to fill the #3 and beyond spots across my roster.

Carufel not on the two deep?:pig:

Hope this helps.

Can we officially call Pittman a disappointment?

Kuznia caught a lot of key 3rd down passes last year. That Bowling Green catch was huge!

who would you guys like Kuznia to play over? Kuznia played well last year out of necessity but all 6 guys listed on the depth chart are much better athletes and unless they have trouble hanging on to the ball I see no reason for Kuznia to get tick this year. No diss on him but that's just the reality of it when you're 5'11" with TE speed its hard to get PT for a BCS program

With regards to Jay Thomas, I noted that there were two places where the "two deeps" included 3 names. These were RB (Bennett, Eskridge & Whaley) and Kick Returns (Troy Stoudermire, Bryant Allen, Jay Thomas). This tells me that we should expect to see Thomas in the KR lineup at least a couple of times (if Syracuse scores) on Saturday.

Thomas really stood out as a special teams leader last year both on returns opening things up for Stoudemire and on coverage. I'd be suprised if they mess with success so to speak. I'm assuming teams will try to kick away from Stoudemire and Allen gives another dynamic return option if that ends up being the case, otherwise I'd really be suprised to see Thomas not on kick returns.
