Best case, the draw picks up 5 or 6 yards and the clock runs down. With the loss, we have the clock running and big time behind in down and distance. At that points, Weber needs to simply throw the ball away more or less just so we can stop the clock and regroup leaving a 3rd and long. Horrible timing for that call given the limited upside even if it is successful. The fact that the 2nd and 3rd down calls weren't even sideline routes shows how unprepared this coaching staff was for this situation.
Well, you know, Ellestad would have shanked anything outside the 20 anyway. We would have had to drive to the 15 to give him a better-than-50/50 chance. You expect Adam Weber to drive 30 yards in one minute? Who do you think he is, Dan Persa?
The play calling was bad on the last drive, but how about Gray "jogging" (more like walking) back to the line of scrimmage. They waited about 10 seconds for him to get set. Someone needs to teach these kids and coaches some clock management.
Did you hear Brewster on the radio at the end of the half. Sounded like he was having a heart attack he was screaming like a madman. He need to win 5 more games. Let's see, WI, IA, OSU, MSU and Penn State and good candidates.
