Buried at the bottom of this article on Barnes is this nugget:

Until he makes his college choice, Barnes will leave fans who seem him dreaming about him joining their programs. That certainly was the case when a couple thousand Kansas Jayhawks fans showed up at his opening game in an AAU tournament in Lawrence, Kan., last Friday.

"They actually gave me a little standing ovation after," he said. "It was a great feeling having all of the community support there."

Some other items:

Landing a player of Barnes' caliber obviously would be monumental for Gophers coach Tubby Smith's program. But it also helps that Smith already signed a couple players for his incoming class who Barnes knows well.

"Royce is very athletic and very skilled," he said. "Rodney is a little smaller than Royce, but he's a freak athlete. He can really jump out of the gym. I met them a lot over the summer at camps."

Barnes isn't surprisedby the fast impression Smith was able to make on top recruits such as himself, White and Williams.

"Winning a national title does carry some weight, in the fact that he knows what it's like to be a champion," he said. "He knows what it's like to get there."
