6-1, 1-8, 8-1, 7-2, 5-4, 6-2.

Northwestern in the Big Ten last six years.

Citrus, no bowl, Holiday, Music City, Pin Stripe, Outback.

33-18, .647 clip.

7-2, 3-9, 9-5, 10-3, 7-6, 10-3 overall.

46-28, .622.

If Fitz was an option I think for a long time now he'd be in a top list of HC candidates every time a big job came up.

Everyone has just accepted he wants to stay at NW so we hear about him less than other coaches, but his results are really exceptional.

That is also years 10-15 of his coaching at Northwestern. Too many schools cut bait way too early on coaches. He was over .500 in conference play only 3 years in his first 10.

The advantage of "not a lot of booster pressure / what are our expectations anyway / who has the money to pay two coaching staffs at the same time" kinda situation.

I agree with that a lot

I think it’s easier to have patience at schools that aren’t dependent on home football game ticket revenue and concession revenue.

Northwestern just assumed they have none and anything is gravy

If he wanted to move he would absolutely be a candidate for lots of college and even pro jobs. But he must make it very clear he has no interest because you never hear his name brought up.

Fitzgerald turned down a chance to interview for the Packers job a few years back. According to Stewart Mandel it's widely believed that the Bears head coaching job is the one job Fitzgerald, who grew up in that area, would be interested in.

2021 Minnesota might have a season a lot like Northwestern teams of the recent past.

Win the Big Ten toss up games and beat the teams you are “supposed to”, and go through it all dragging around an appalling loss or two from non-con so that polls and national types don’t notice.
