Is really the only reason why we are discussing if Brewster
should still have a job. The few hundred on this board are truly passionate, but the
general public could give a rats ass. Because if it did, Brewster would never have been hired in the first place. If alumni and this state truly demanded a top notch program it would happen. Case closed. oops.. didn't see Bleed's post. Sort of related

If administrations truly supported a top notch program they would never have moved to the Metrodome where they got decreased revenues, which pinched the pursestrings of those they had fiduciary responsibility for. This is why you never put the Theater Department in charge of the Economics Department and vice versa.

Congrats, Gray. You have just made the most perceptive post of the year. You, me, and very few other people understand what the real problem is with Gopher football.

plus everyone outside the state of mn

All I'm saying "North" is that all the whining about individual players, coaches, and venues doesn't matter until the majority gets angry. Crappy attitude, I know, but what else is there to say.

"If alumni and this state truly demanded a top notch program it would happen." You are correct sir!

Apathy is not the appropriate word for this discussion.

I have never seen more people on this board, I have never seen the polls in the Strib receive as many votes on anything Gopher related before.

People do care, and people are pissed right now, and rightfully so.

Sure there are people that care, that is not the point.

The point is that not ENOUGH of them care. The apathy goes way beyond coaching hiring decisions. Apathy means less fans, less revenue, kids that grow up not caring about the program and we can't keep the top recruits in state.

Widespread apathy is the #1 problem with the program's decline over the last 50 years.

I think the apathy started in the schools administration and board of dirctors and spread to the public. If it's going to change it will have to take a similar path.
