Those are UM's point totals (in order) against Michigan State from 2004-2013.

That's awesome. I don't know if MSU's defense is good enough to keep the streak alive, but Michigan's offense might just be bad enough.

I think you're right. Michigan might score a few more points this year. However, MSU's offense is really clicking, so I'm guessing margin of victory will be pretty embarrassing.

Michigan will keep it "close" because its defense isn't terrible. Sparty wins 31-13.

A) UM scored three points last year and B) UM hasnt played Michigan State every year since 2004.

Breaking the trend this year...back up to 45!

For Michigan to score 45 points vs. MSU, Sparty would have to turn it over about 5 times deep in their own territory. If UM gets 23 points (just over what Sparty is giving up per game) from their anemic offense, that would be a major accomplishment.

This is THE Game for Dantonio. He has made that clear. This is about who is Michigan's big brother. State has had to live with that being thrown out. State was the little brother. He has an internal hatred for Michigan. If State doesn't come out on fire, I miss my guess.

Chasing Lloyd Carr out really hurt Michigan. It does take a long time for reputations to fade - Michigan still has more of a 'mystique' than does MSU - but Michigan really needs to make sure the right choice for the next coach.

For the record, Michigan's dominance in the series (68-33-5) is rather deceiving. Of the first 50 meetings, 44 were played in Ann Arbor and 6 in East Lansing, most before MSU was a member of the Big Ten. The schools didn't start alternating home-and-home until 1958.

Since MSU became a full-fledged (athletics) member of the Big Ten in 1953 (MSU/UM have played every year since), Michigan still leads 35-24-2. A lead in the series, yes, but hardly of "Big Brother/Little Brother" proportions, unless one considers winning roughly 6 of every 10 meetings dominance.

WE ARE THE ONE TRUE "U". I have always hated miami for this.

I remember some years back, here on the GopherHole, some posters were being blasted for referring to Minnesota as "The U", claiming that belonged to Miami.

For clarity, I do shorten it to "The U" when speaking with family/friends about the "U of M". .. to us there is only one "U"!

Michigan State is trying to keep the streak alive. 3 points with a quarter and a half to go.
