4 Star OT Aaron Thomas Flips from tOSU to Minnesota!!!

The '26 class is really shaping up. To think we (me, anyway) are grinding our teeth about what is probably PJ's least talented team at MN, yet it still has an excellent chance at 8-4 AND a stellar '26 recruiting class waiting in the wings... this is just outstanding.

Thomas has a ton of upside and looks like a top five player in the state as we head in to the Spring evaluation period. He was formerly a defensive lineman but switched over to the offensive line as a junior and shows a lot of promise. He’s a fluid mover, a natural athlete and looks to have all the physical traits to play offensive tackle at the college level. He’s a reactionary athlete with good feet and balance. He’s still raw in some areas, plays high at times and doesn’t always use his length but we like the natural aggressiveness and finishing ability he flashes. His father is former Florida State offensive lineman Eric Thomas so the gene pool is strong here and it looks like the younger Thomas is just scratching the surface of how good he can become right now.

Was he the player to be named later in the Phillip Daniels trade?
Well Played.....

I know it takes time for OL to develop when they get to college but love the size on the guys we have committed in this class. 6'6"-6'7" and right around 300lbs. These guys won't need to develop a ton physically before they are ready to play, just comes down to how quickly they can grasp technique and develop the strength needed to compete at the college level.

That timeline of events is very interesting. I also laugh at the Sacremento State offer that was listed in the middle of all these big P4 offers coming in.
He unofficially visited the Gophers a number of times last year mostly before he started getting his bigger offers earlier this year. Seems like they were in on him before the bigger guys.

"fluid mover, a natural athlete"

Left tackle. Let's hope there's a young Ersery type either on the roster now or in this class.

Looks like his dad played OL and started for the National Champion 1999 Florida State football team. He also had a short stint as a practice squad player in the NFL.

That’s because this isn’t PJs least talented team, not even close. They are just young.

According to 247, he’s the 3rd best OT recruit on the 2026 Gopher hard commit list.

Looks like the Offensive line is a priority.

Sounds perfect for MN and a developmental program. tOSU can pay for the full developed players. MN will take the high upside but needs to work on X kids
