4* Hopkins 2012 recruit - Chambers

i dont know why we arent pursuing him, might be our plan b or c? I bet tubby feels if all else fails we can land chambers and be just fine

Rivals has him as a 4* and no MN offer. Are we after/interested in this kid? Assuming Chambers is the cream of the crop in 2012 from MN, who else is worth a look?

I know they really would like to land the PG from Iowa - Marcus Paige. Maybe that's why they haven't offered Chambers yet??? Paige would be a great get, but I would guess he'll end up somewhere other than the U. I'm guessing they'll be going after Chambers in the end.

Paige has an offer from Kansas, and has North Carolina sniffing, with a likely offer coming, on top of the in-state Iowa and ISU. I really doubt he's coming to Minnesota, and hope that's not the reason we're holding out on offering Siyani.

Perhaps someone else who watched the Howard Pulley league can comment as well, but in my opinion, Chambers didn't look the part of a 4* recruit this summer in the league. I think we're right in holding out right now. Siyani might still be a 4* recruit, but he needs to step it up and prove it this season, IMHO.

Al Nolen was barely 3* recruit in 2007. It appears that 4* status isn't a minimum requirement.

Wasn't Nolen recruited by Monson? Not saying there is any requirement or anything. Tubby recruits players he likes regardless of star, I think that has been pretty obvious thus far.

I hear what you're saying...let me re-phrase my thought. I don't think Siyani has shown me enough to warrant a scholarship offer from the Gophers yet, regardless of the number of stars next to his name. I'd like to see him step it up at Hopkins this fall first.

The kid is only a JR this year. Why offer him now if you are unsure. Let him develop and go through another evaluation in the spring.

That makes perfect sense to me.

Based on what I heard is that he really didn't get much interest other than (I think Santa Clara) up until about mid summer. I think there is a family connection at Santa Clara and they have been pressing him hard since spring. Apparently he made a big impression at a mid summer camp so it may be that the coaches haven't seen much of him yet. If you look at the "offer" or "interested" list of schools, not many elite D1 schools for a 4* so it may be he is relatively unknown or he's not a 4*. In any case, very nice kid and family.
