Is anyone else surprised that the NABC and ESPN didn't choose Hoffarber to take part in the annual 3pt shootout tonight in Houston at the Final Four?

1) He's really good shooter.
2) His storyline is good (ESPY winner/ESPY runner up) for ESPN.
3) Tubby is a big wig in the NABC.

Surprising and disappointing.

I thought it was a little weird the Big 10 didn't have a single representative in the contest...including Dieber, Hoffarber, etc.?

He's so dreamy...

On a serious note, if they didn't take Hoff, you'd think they'd at least take Diebler, wasn't he one of the top 5 three point shooters in the country this season?

Wow

The absence of both Diebler and Hoff is just bizarre. As you mentioned, Hoffarber has a history with ESPN and if I'm not mistaken Diebler is the Big 10's all time leader in made threes.

What did Hoffarber shoot from 3 this year?
Are we certain he didn't get asked and couldn't make it? (same goes for diebler)
Did he have a higher 3 pt % than any of the participants?

Wow

Rosemountain I hope it is just a case of them not being able to make it.

I think Rose is upset that they didn't ask RSIII.

I guess I don't understand what you two are ridiculing? Do they ask a lot of guys who shot 39% from 3 to be in the contest?

RSIII would not be eligible due to the fact that he is still coming back, but if underclassmen could be invited he would probably be the 2nd or 3rd guy from the gophers asked.

I am surprised that Diebler and Hoffarber were not invited. Blake actually ended up going to Washington DC this week to see friend Ryan Saunders and get some tips for preparing for the draft. It is hard to believe that there are many better shooters than those two. Both players will play in Portsmouth this week.

Hoff shot 38.9% this year. Not sure what the rest of the participants had, but near 40 is pretty good.

That is what I am wondering...and instead of answering my questions people just took shots at me.

Dwight Hardy: 35.4%, LaceDarius Dunn: 35.7%, Andrew Goudelock: 40.7%, Jacob Pullen: 38.1%, Ravern Johnson: 40.3%, Mickey McConnell: 45.6%, Brady Morningstar: 41.0%, Chris Warren: 34.1%

Hoff would've been pretty much average for the group.

despite what averages say, hoff is a better shooter than pretty much every single one of these people

I don't really know anything about those other players, but I think Hoff definitely would have benefitted from having an additional legitimate 3 point threat on this team, such as Devoe Joseph or possibly even Paul Carter. Didn't Hoff have the highest percentage in the Big Ten last season? I looked for the stats, and gophersports.com said he shot 46.7% in 2009-10, but I couldn't find if he led the Big Ten or not, but I thought he did.

Also, interesting fact, Minnesota led the Big Ten in 3 point percentage last season, while Michigan took up the rear, shooting a full 10% worse.

Did all those players play in either the NCAAs or the NIT? That might have something to do with it.

Yeah, I think they generally take guys from NCAA tourney teams. Diebler and Hoffarber are two of the best shooters I've ever seen. Percentages don't mean squat. Contested 24 footers look the same as wide open 21 footers in the box score. If a guy is shooting better than 45% from three point land either he isn't shooting enough or his team is undefeated.

I am surprised Hoff isn't in it, but ...

where in the world is Diebler!?!?!?!?!?!?
