This week, the Nittany Lions are favored over the 3-0 Golden Gophers.
However, a tough running game could once again give the Penn State defense trouble. The Nittany Lions have the worst run defense in the conference and have given up an average of 213.8 rushing yards a game. Minnesota is averaging 228 yards per game on the ground.
The transition on offense for the Nittany Lions has been a slow one. Through four games they still rank at the bottom of the Big Ten with just 339 yards of total offense per game. Still, the unit looks better than last year and should start to improve with more time.
If Penn State hopes to gain it’s first win in the conference this week several players are going to have to have a big game.
