3:45 left and there's a mass exodus out of the student section.

Nice.

The majority of the players gave up, why shouldn't the fans?

Great thread. Way to criticize the students for leaving when we have no realistic chance of winning the game. Definitely what we should be focusing on.

Good for them. Beat the traffic. Not much to see except some garbage time drives by Williams.

The student section did everything they could. The lobby was full out the door by 11 AM and people were pushing to get into the game. The entire student section was full with over 35 mins till game time. The students rocked the barn, they love this team and take a loss just as hard as the players do.

So brucekaupa, were you the student who was yelling f*&% you to every single student that left at that time?

We were down 76-58 with 3:44 remaining after the media timeout, so that's 18. Also, we scored 11 points the rest of the game and considering we have ONE player capable of consistently making a three, I would say the chances of us coming back from an 18 pt deficit in little under 4 minutes would be slim to none.

They weren't the only ones leaving. The section I am in was pretty empty by then also.

plenty of people left at the ~8 minute mark in the second half - LAME. Once again 210 was mostly duds

the team was just looking forward to watching the SBowl anyway, from the tip

It was embarrassing

Mass exodus at the 3:45 timeout=dubious fan loyalty. Period.

I wish the Gophers had some cheerleaders or something to actually keep some semblance of consistent energy in the building.

This post is foolish. The game was over with 4:00 to go, and folks are grasping at straws as to why people are leaving. It's because the game was over. I apologize for anyone who wants to believe otherwise, but it is what it is. The game was over, and even the most ardent fans knew it.

Yes, and it's not necessarily just about beating the traffic either. Sometimes disappointment and frustration plays a role in that, and in that regard you can't blame people. It's Super Bowl Sunday, and if the team can't compete any more effectively than that, then I really can't question people for starting to leave with just a few minutes left and virtually no hope of a comeback.

I don't see how watching meaningless basketball to end a game that has clearly already been decided makes you a better fan....

Good we agree on this actually.

I just wanted to make it clear that the student section also leaves early, because I've seen plenty of posts in the past from students chastising others for leaving early when the game is decided.

It was Super Bowl Sunday. I thought the fans had more energy than the players. Very disappointing season.
