Probably worth a separate thread all on its own, why not.

- Sounds like Stafford and the Rams are headed for divorce; he'll go to a QB-needy team but that will also create a hole in Los Angeles. It would seem the Rams have a plan in place, could it be Darnold?

- Falcons "saying" that Cousins will be the backup to Penix this coming season. HA! Not sure I buy that for a minute, the shitshow in Atlanta continues. They'll try to drum up some kind of market for Cousins, it won't be there, and he'll get cut. I GUESS he could stay but I doubt it.

- Looking like the Vikings will let Darnold walk. Heard a very good discussion on the likelihood of "tag and trade" and how incredibly unlikely it would be. What team would give up draft assets for only one year of control of Sam Darnold? And on the Vikings end, the Comp pick would most definitely be better than a team coughing up something in a tag and trade. Less than zero chance the Vikings get something like a 2nd rounder in a tag-and-trade scenario, not happening.

- Steelers, I think it's possible they don't want EITHER of Wilson or Fields but if anything, they get something done with Wilson I would think. Bringing in someone like Darnold, or someone not currently available (Stafford, Cousins, Geno, et al) is certainly a possibility.

Shaping up to be a pretty eventful next several weeks, no doubt about it

The Athletic this morning reporting that Giants and Raiders are showing some interest in trading for Matt Stafford. I'd be surprised if he wants anything to do with New York and the shitshow Giants organization; not sure how serious the Raiders are but for Stafford, going from paying income taxes in LA to paying zero state income tax in Las Vegas would be a fairly hefty pay raise right there.

My guess is we'll hear rumors and smoke on an almost daily basis on QB movement in the next several weeks...

Stafford will retire before playing for either of those current shit shows, IMO.

Cut Cousins and just eat the guaranteed money? That doesn’t seem likely but maybe paper money doesn’t mean what it used to

I caught on KFAN this morning, Hawkey was saying something like he was seeing a bunch of article lately saying Darnold was going to come back to the Vikings. Sauce then speculated that it was the Vikings leaking that to the media to try to create some urgency in teams who might be interested in trading for him.

As the OP said about Cousins, trying to drum up a market for him.

We will see!

If Stafford plays for the Raiders, I would imagine it would be a straight up money grab for his last couple years. I will say that between the new state-of-the-art facilities in Vegas/Henderson and Brady being involved, the Raiders at least COULD be heading towards some legitimacy as a franchise. Time will tell
I could see Carroll making the Raiders competent right away. But that division is brutal. 7 or 8 wins is probably the ceiling even with Stafford.
The Raiders roster is terrible right now, holes everywhere and they are (as a wise man once said) a year away from being a year away. I have said that I would rather they roll with Aidan O'Connell this season and use all their cap space and draft capital to fill holes on the rest of the roster than to go big game hunting for a QB. This roster is a whole shitload more than a QB away from being good. And yes, the division is a gauntlet, with some of the best coaches in the game.

I forgot about the Brady impact regarding Vegas...that's a good point. Supposedly Ian Rappaport and some Fox NFL reporter got into a verbal confrontation the other day over a report that Brady has already met with Stafford.

It will never happen but I suggest a Stafford-Darnold swap. Who says no? (It would gut our Cap Space, though.)

The Rams are smartly keeping Stafford in LA.

Good move for both sides, I have to wonder who blinked. McVay, while being a major Stafford supporter, made it clear the Rams had a number that they could handle and could not, would not move off that number. The first domino (if you can even call it that) has fallen in the offseason carousel

Why not Darnold to Vegas?

Can’t envision him going back to the East Coast, especially the NYC market.

It makes sense for sure, but I guess it comes down to Chip Kelly's preference, and maybe a little Pete Carroll. With that in mind, I have no clue. Knowing what it APPEARS to be as far as opinions in this year's QB draft options in the 1st round, I just hate, HATE the idea of the Raiders wasting a pick on Ward or Sanders, if they are even available at #6. I would not be surprised to see one or both slide a ways but every year, someone panics.

I think the latest "Big Board" at The Athletic, they had Ward rated as the 15th best prospect and Sanders as the #25 best prospect in the draft. Ugghhhh.... I just hate the idea of making a pick that high when they aren't that highly rated or thought of.
