For reference, there are 257 total draft picks this year so that puts Walley and Brosmer on the edge. I think Walley gets taken, Brosmer and Jackson are questionable.

This oughta be interesting to follow. The Tyler Johnson thing is what I'll remember Matt Miller for. He said he didn't see anything better than a day 3 pick and Twitter exploded in pro Gopher vitriol...but it turns out he was right. Is he objective or is he just a dink? Find out tonight at 6.

Miller was born without even a trace of a personality but his Draft and Fantasy assessments have been pretty solid. Personally, I expect four (4) Gophers to get drafted and all higher than his ratings suggest:

Ersery (2)
Walley (4)
Lindenberg (5)
Joyner (6)

Yes!

I think it was more that Miller hinted at off the field and character issues with Tyler that got people riled up.

I've read a few sets of pre-draft rankings and from what I've gathered, the difference between Miller's list and others is that they have Walley higher and Lindenberg lower. Some like Brosmer and most think he'll get drafted.

Miller doesn't seem to have a lot of love for Ersery and at #105 he'd be a Day 3 pick. That's not happening. I expect him to be gone by mid-2nd round. I've perused a few mock drafts (and they certainly aren't scientific), but Ersery is late-1st in some and never lower than late-2nd. Most analysts praise his athleticism, but feel he needs to clean up his technique.

I tend to agree that this is probably how it shakes out.

Ersery, Lindenberg, Walley and Joyner get drafted
Brosmer and Jackson with a great shot of landing an UDFA spot
Striggow, Cooper and Carroll are longer shots but wouldn't shock me to see them find ways onto a team somewhere.

Hopefully we see the trend of more and more former Gophers finding their way into the NFL continue.

He's more objective than the board. I do think a couple of those are low though. I'd bet on 4-5 Gophers getting drafted and AE going earlier than 105 overall.

Kiper/McShay mock has Ersery at 72 to Chicago

Similar to Brugler except he's lower on Joyner, Walley, and Lindenberg. Brugler also has Brosmer going in the 7th round. It's all a crap shoot for those of us looking on from the outside (and that includes draft mavens like Miller). On Day 3, teams look for players that match the team's style and schemes or a raw athletic freak as opposed to hitting home runs. I think that adds an additional layer of uncertainty to the whole process.

Mock drafts outside of maybe the first part of the first round are pretty worthless. They give you an educated guess on who will hear their name called at some point during the draft but the specific team or round has a massive margin for error on each player.

I hope Brosmer gets drafted but if not, he'll definitely get signed as an UFA and hopefully earn a spot on a team's Practice Squad (Vikings?).

I'm not completely convinced that Lindenberg and Joyner get drafted but PJ and the U are starting to establish a history of developing quality NFL prospects. Hopefully that works in their favor.

I think that PJ's culture gives NFL teams a little extra confidence when they are making a stretch. After the 4th round every player is a stretch so the prospects for Brosmer might be better than the Draft Experts expect.
