Brutal assessment of the Gopher matchup.

Via Saturday Tradition:

14. Minnesota at Virginia Tech (Nov. 28)

The ball was dropped here. Badly.

Virginia Tech will be an NCAA Tournament team next season. Maybe somewhere between a 4-6 seed, even. The Hokies would have made a compelling opponent for any number of Big Ten opponents. Such as Illinois, Iowa or, ya know, neighboring Maryland.

Instead, they get the Golden Gophers, who are likely the worst team in the B1G and a stone-cold lock to be no better than 12th. Minnesota should have been paired with Boston College for a pairing of maroon-and-gold teams that are completely overshadowed in their NBA cities.

At least very few people will be watching the Gophers get clobbered here.

Hogwash !!
With our talent an Ben coaching, this will be a W. We just don't loose non conference games.

Another lazy take by Saturday Tradition. Did this guy confuse the wrong Virginia team in the ACC? No one else is predicting VT to be a top 6 seed in the NCAA tournament at this point, not to mention a slam dunk tourney team.

Gophers can win this game.

The number 4 best game is rutgers at miami? I'm gonna take a pass on that game.

I think we can win this game. Va Tech's best player from last year is gone and they needed a miracle ACC tourney run to get an 11 seed and get drubbed by Texas. Three days in March can completely white wash the rest of the season for some. Think Oregon State two years ago is a good example of that and look how they did last year

VT have two of five starters returning. lots to learn about both teams

CBS chimes in:

11. Minnesota at Virginia Tech

Remember Hunter Cattoor, the Virginia Tech guard who blasted Duke for 31 points in the ACC Tournament last postseason? He'll be a feature piece for the Hokies this year next to Justyn Mutts after losing Keve Aluma. Should be an interesting matchup against a mish-mash unit of Minnesota that includes former five-star Dawson Garcia and Jamison Battle.

Go Gophers!!
