Wednesday's Matchups (Hopefully): All Times Eastern. I believe all are on BTN+

11:00 AM Monmouth @ Rutgers
12:30 PM Central Michigan @ Michigan
1:30 PM Eastern Kentucky @ Indiana
6:00 PM Coppin State @ Penn State
7:30 PM Northern Iowa @ Iowa
9:00 Indiana State @ Illinois

Nebraska transfer, Leigha Brown, meshed immediately with the Wolverines as Michigan defeated Central Michigan 93-75. The 6'1" Junior and last season's B1G Sixth Player of the Year moved into the starting lineup delivering 22 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

Leigha Brown opened the scoring in the second quarter. Scoring seven points in the final minutes, Brown gave the Wolverines offense an edge going into halftime. Brown's speed and athleticism will be a weapon the Wolverines can utilize throughout the season.

“I've been excited to play with her since she committed here,” Hillmon said. “Obviously we hated playing against her so now that we have her on our team is a blessing. She can knock down the mid range or the three. She's just got all the tools in her back pocket.”

One other note: Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeye's star 6'0" freshman guard, did not disappoint. In 26 minutes, Clark was 10-17 from the floor, 3-6 from three and 4-4 from the line in leading Iowa to a 96-81 win over Northern Iowa. Last season UNI defeated the Hawkeyes by 20.

Monika Cizinano was Iowa's second leading scorer with 19 points and 5 rebounds in 22 minutes.

But the biggest star of the night was Iowa freshman Caitlin Clark. The highly sought-after recruit scored 27 points, and recorded eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals in her Hawkeye debut to lead the team to victory.

The Niele Ivey era gets off to a slow start as the Ohio Bobcats defeated Notre Dame in Athens 86-85. The Irish were down a few players before the game plus they had two players foul out.

Five Notre Dame women’s basketball players — Sam Brunelle, Katyln Gilbert, Mikayla Vaughn, Natalija Marshall and Amirah Abdur-Rahim — will miss at least Friday’s noon contest at Ohio and Sunday afternoon’s home opener against Miami of Ohio, Ivey said Wednesday during a news conference.

“I can’t really mention why they’re out,” Ivey said.

The rookie head coach added, though, that Vaughn and Marshall are continuing to recover from knee injuries that had previously put their readiness in doubt anyway, while Brunelle has “kind of a nagging injury that she’s coming back from.”

Ivey did not say anything addressing the circumstances for Gilbert and Abdur-Rahim.

Former Michigan State Assistant Amaka Agugua-Hamilton's Missouri State team knocked off Maryland 81-74.

At the end of the first quarter, Ohio State, aided by 26-0 opening run, leads Kent State 31-4. The Golden Flashes first points came on a free throw with 1:18 remaining in the quarter.

The Illini (1-1) revival remains a work in progress as they lose at home 62-59 to Valparaiso (1-1). The Missouri Valley Conference Crusaders were 10-26 from three while Illinois was 1-16.

Iowa beats Drake 103-97, that Drake game at the barn Sunday is gonna be tough.

Iowa defeated Drake in Des Moines 103-97. The quick summation. The Hawkeyes outscored Drake 38-29 in the fourth quarter. For the game, Drake shot 14-29 from three while the Hawks were 7-17. I thought Drake was going to win; but Clark and Czinano proved to be too much as Iowa which trailed in the third quarter 61-50 picked up the pace.

The inadvertent pass leads to a buzzer beating layup and a Lady Lion victory:

Tennessee takes down IU 66-58 in Bloomington. It was a defensive battle in the second half with the Hoosiers closing what had been a double digit gap several time. IU post player, McKenzie Holmes, missed a breakaway layup would've tied the game at 54 in the fourth quarter. It was one of several missed opportunities in the fourth.

But, seriously, how can the Hoosiers not find a three point shooter? They opened the game 0-14 from behind the arc and finished it 2-27.
