Blooming Prairie up on BOLD 28-15.

Gabe Hagen, a Minnesota State commit has a couple TD's. BOLD can't defend him on jump balls.
Gabe is 6-3, 240 and plays DE and TE.
He has a defensive TD off a pick as well.

Caledonia looking to extend the nations longest winning streak vs Minneapolis North. The King brothers are great athletes. The receiver, #2, is a big time hoops player.

Minnehaha vs Rocori at 4. Kaden Johnson should be a gopher. Lets hope he agrees.

Minneapolis North leading time of possession, but that doesn't matter in this game.

Eli King, sophomore for Caledonia, is a player. Looks very special. Three INTs today.

SMB vs ROCORI

Lots of star power in this game. Jalen Suggs looks like the big time prospect he is, Kaden Johnson showing up with a big, hard sack of ROCORI QB Jack Steil. And that's a name that I haven't seen before - Steil looks like the best player on a very good team. Steil is a fair QB with a knack for running with the ball. Ballgame tied 7-7 late in the 2nd qtr.

Suggs just got hurt.
Don't know what.
They aren't showing it.

Not a lot of weight on his leg they said.

Steil is a Nebraska baseball signee. Plays QB and LB

From the indirect camera angle on the play, my best guess I that either a lineman stepped on his left foot or a defender pulled on his left leg. During the play he tried to step back from the line of scrimmage, froze, jerked free, and then went down.

Wish he was going to be a gopher. But wasn’t recruited very heavily by them

Geez, Steil also punts. He's a heck of a player. Nebby's football staff had better get on him.

I wonder why the U isn't interested, apart from their general disinterest in Minnesota athletes.

Steil converts on a 4th and 15 in OT to get the TD to bring within 1.
They go for two and run the swinging gate. Suggs is covering the receiver who catches the conversion. He has great coverage on him, but Steil puts it just out of his reach.

Great finish.

Fun ending. Who is the big o-lineman #77 from SMB? Tough loss for Suggs and Johnson.

They have Dave Lee doing the play by play now and he is horrible.

He's now interviewing James Laurinaitis right now and re-telling his story of how he almost went to Minnesota but made the right decision for himself to go to OSU.

My interest is waning.

Yes, that pissed me off. Every kid in MN who plays football is probably watching this right now.

Maybe he should be watching Ohio high school football.

Jaice Miller for Champlin is definitely one of those players that's gonna go to NDSU or something and be a stud. Big, athletic, and has made some great throws today. A couple that his receivers have dropped.

Steil commited to the Cornhuskers a full year ago for baseball.....that basically told college football programs all they needed to know and where his heart was....and you watch this kid play baseball and you will know right away that he is making the right decision....

They (NDSU) already have the Metro player of the year (from Lakeville) headed up to Fargo, next year.

Their starting QB this year, a true freshman for an undefeated and #1 ranked (in FCS) team, is from Marshall.

These are the typical guys that Minnesota ignores. They only go after the ones who don't actually want to play for the Gophers.

Jaice has a 247 recruiting profile that lists him as a WR. Has offers from SDSU and UND but also lists some recruiting interest from MN which I would guess as a PWO. I think he may have changed positions to from WR to QB his senior year. But absolutely looks like a stud athlete with size and speed that NDSU and SDSU have built powerhouse programs around.

Yes. NDSU (in particular) absolutely *feasts* on guys in MN and WI that the Gophers and Badgers either outright ignore, or lazily toss a PWO offer to.

That level of talent (high 2* level of guys) simply doesn't exist in most of the rest of the country, because there are ample G5 schools to scoop them up.

would you like the Gophers to go after yet another WR in this class and offer this kid?

We are not looking at those players who can play very well at NDSU. We have to look for those players who can help us win the Big Ten Championship game. There are only four or five players per year in this state who could possibly, with three to five years in the weight room, help us do that and some of them will Always choose to play at another place under a different type of coach. Very, very few elite programs are so powerful they can hold onto every recruit in their state.

This is the correct answer. Minnesota doesn't need to recruit guys who can win FCS Natty's...they need guys who can win FBS Natty's. Will they miss on a couple gems every now and then? Yeah, of course...but those are also guys that every FBS program in the country misses on.

Yes.

My hope is that maybe a couple more of those guys might choose to walk-on rather than go to Dakotas.

Those are often guys who aren’t proven at this level in high school, but who absolutely can develop into BT level players.
