I figured with Selection Sunday two nights away, we can start a new thread to focus on the post-season.

It looks like we'll end up with a 7 or 8 seed. I'd rather be a 10 seed obviously than an 8 seed.

Go Gophers!!

We need the gals to shine.

GO GOPHERS!!!

Go Gopher Ladies....wishing you all the best in the upcoming bracket announcement!

STrib: U's Shae Kelley thrilled her career ending with shot in NCAA tourney

During her brief time in Minnesota, Kelley has become an indispensable member of a team that has gone 23-9 and compiled its best record in a decade. Her 17.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game are second only to Amanda Zahui B. on the Gophers’ roster, and her leadership and wide-ranging skill set helped hold the Gophers together after a season-ending injury to star Rachel Banham.

Kelley said she trusted that her team would adapt when Banham was sidelined in December. Her standout talent, combined with a team-oriented personality, ensured both she and the Gophers got the postseason prize they wanted.

“I’m very excited,’’ said Kelley, who is averaging 23.4 points over the Gophers’ past eight games. “It’s been a dream of mine since freshman year to go to the tournament, to compete in the tournament.

“It’s hard to get into a 64-team field. To be one of those teams is definitely special, and it will be special to be part of that atmosphere, with the fans and the crowd and all the teams. It’s going to be a thrill.’’

Go Gophers!!

Too bad we can't add 25 pts from Rachel into that mix Bleed.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to take my daughter to this. Pizza, t-shirts and Goldy, sounds like a good time. And she'll like it too. :D:D

Great. Share some photos with us.

As Gopher fans, even if you're not a fan of women's basketball, get on the love train.

I really hope we don't get stuck with a 8 or 9 seed. Although if we did win our first game it would be fun to go against the likes of UCONN and South Carolina.

The 8/9 line is death in Women's. You'd rather be a 10/11/ or 12 seed.

Well, at least we aren't in the UCONN or south Carolina region.

Gopher women will be playing in South Bend against Depaul.

DePaul lost to Northwestern by 6 in November and have Jessica January from Richfield as one of their guards. They are lead by senior guard Brittany buy a vowel. Can not wait to road trip to South Bend- Go Gophers!

The extended time without a game has to help with the number of minutes the starters racked up during the last month.

ESPNW has Amanda as one of the 5 players to watch although they added "while you can."

Amanda Zahui B., Minnesota: What more needs to be said other than Zahui B. piled up 39 points and 29 rebounds in a game against a team, Iowa, that is a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. With a healthy Rachel Banham back in the lineup next season alongside Zahui B., Minnesota may have a new version of the Lindsay Whalen-Janel McCarville combination that produced a Final Four run. But for now, after a first-round game against DePaul in which the first team to 90 may win, Zahui B. could test just how much Notre Dame has solved its rebounding issues.

Scoggins: Stolllings wants Gophers to be NCAA regulars

“We’re very much set on operating at a very high level,” the coach says."

The Gophers women’s basketball team opened the doors to Williams Arena to fans Monday night to celebrate an invitation to the NCAA tournament after a half-decade absence.

A modest crowd of a couple hundred seemed to enjoy the occasion as the Gophers received a No. 8 seed, and why not? This market is starved for a winner.

A selection show viewing party, however, shouldn’t feel like a visit from a long-lost relative.

No reason exists that should preclude postseason basketball — the real one, not that second-rate NIT stuff — from becoming a regular destination for the Gophers women’s hoopsters. A program that made the Final Four in 2004 should experience March Madness more than every five years or so.
