The Gopher football season kicks off Thursday, August 28th at 6 p.m. and the excitement level here on campus couldn’t be any higher. We look forward to welcoming you back on August 28 and want to share a few changes for the 2014 football season.

TCF Bank Stadium Gate Entry

This season, gates at TCF Bank Stadium will open 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Previously gates opened two hours prior to kickoff.

Home Opener – Gophers vs. Eastern Illinois 8/28/14

The home opener will be played on Thursday, August 28th at 6 p.m. Because the game is being played on a Thursday, there are a few parking changes compared to a Saturday gameday. For this game only there will be the following parking changes.

Parking areas will open at 2 p.m.
No parking will be available at the State Fairgrounds in Lot S-108. All season parking passes for that lot will be accepted at the Washington Ave Ramp parking area located on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota campus.
Reserved parking spaces will not be available in the Gold, Minnesota and Gopher Lots, but parking passes will be honored for each parking lot. Due to daily contract parking in those lots

Minnesota Vikings Changes

Temporary bleachers now occupy the west end of TCF Bank Stadium behind sections 146-152. These seats are being sold on a single game basis for all Gopher football home games.

Due to these temporary bleachers, there will no longer be a beer garden located on the West Plaza, but the beer garden located outside Gate A and portable beverage stands will remain. Alcohol will now be served in concession stands around the concourse.

Seat Cushions

Gopher Sports is excited to announce the release of a new cushion seat back designed specifically for chairback stadium seats. This new MVP seat turns your current chairback seat into the most comfortable seat in the stadium. For just $52 you can secure your MVP seat for all 2014 Gopher Football home games. Click HERE to learn more or to order today.

The traditional chairback seat cushion, designed to improve the experience for all customers located in bench seating, is still available. For just $52 you can secure your seatback for all 2014 Gopher Football home games. Click HERE for more information or to order today.

To order over the phone, call 1-866-932-8266.

TCF Bank Stadium Concessions

Below are new food options for the 2014 season.

Alcohol will now be served in concession stands around the concourse. Alcohol will be served until the end of the third quarter.
Goldy's Grill brought in a Minnesota favorite by adding walleye fingers.
Grill and Sugar Buzzers locations were added to the Upper Concourse, bringing guests smoked sausage, hot dogs, beverages and an assortment of gameday sweets.
The Jax Cafe location in the West Plaza is now offering bacon-wrapped hot dogs, Italian meatballs, boneless buffalo wings and the usual favorite, the Jax steak sandwich.
Expanded points of service for beverages have been added to the Main and Upper Concourse.

Metro Transit Green Line

The Metro Transit Green Line is now in service and runs through the University of Minnesota campus, including a stop right outside Gate D of TCF Bank Stadium. This will be a great way to get to campus on gamedays and avoid the traffic. For more information on the Metro Transit Green Line, please click here.

Free Metro Transit Rides for Home Opener

Metro Transit will be offering free service for the home opener vs. Eastern Illinois on August 28. Gopher fans need only show their game ticket. This will be valid for all bus and light rail routes starting two hours prior to game and ending two hours after the game. For help planning your trip, use the Interactive Trip Planner, or call a transit expert at 612-373-3333.

If you have any questions regarding these changes or your season tickets, please contact the Gopher Sales & Service Department at 612-624-8080 (option 2).

Thank you and Go Gophers!

I suppose it was only a matter of time before somone would think up a way to add (and charge extra $$$) to turn chairback seats into "MVP seats"

What part of this will receive the most complaints on GopherHole?

No complaints about the part where beer will be served at concessions stands around the stadium

My guess is that people will complain about the Green Line somehow.
